Just thought I'd share a wee tip on displaying ships. I've tried different ways of hanging ships on the wall that would allow me to take them down easily when I want but also not have me worrying about hearing a crash in the night and finding broken plastic in the morning!

Originally used picture hooks and string but was way too involved setting up and getting straight and awkward to remove but then I discovered these little beauties -

Super easy to screw into the wall, very strong and secure and best of all the seem to fit the mould of various ships.

Hardly noticeable once they are up and makes it really easy to take them down to play with - I mean dust whenever I want :D

Only cost a couple of quid so great value

I like your style.. good idea that and as you say no chance of smashed ships. Looks good too. Mine are in or on cabinets but I'll remember this for the future. I have got 2 Jedi fighters I want to put on the wall, might try this. Also want to suspend a massive X-Wing and Tie Fighter from the ceiling at some point so it looks like they're in flight but not sure how to do it. Same as you said, slightly concerned about them falling and breaking. Maybe strong fishing line and hooks!?

My daughter was at me for ages to hang ships from the ceiling but I kept putting it off, was definitely worth the effort though.
Small hook and raw plug with some (very strong) fishing line, was a bit fiddly getting them in the preferred pose but end result is good.

She wanted the corresponding TIE in front of each movie poster and the X Wing and Y Wing flying towards them - does look bloody cool when you walk into her room.

Sorry for rubbish pictures but as she is 18 her bedroom has to be in a constant state of semi darkness!

Cheers

My daughter has the SOTE Slave 1 in her room. Exactly the same mould as our vintage model but with a nice paint job instead of stickers but its date stamp is 1996 same year she was born, I like that kinda thing :D

great effort - your daughter's room is fantastic!

I think it's fair to say she was brainwashed into loving SW :D

Fantastic stuff Colin, they look great mate, thoroughly inspiring stuff. I want to see 3 X-Wings up the wall like the old fashioned ducks or geese from Coronation Street! Shares in Homebase are on the up!
It's great that that room belongs to an 18 year old, I guess we've found our next interviewee for the podcast!
Thanks dude

3000th post Jez - Congratulations mate :D

Hooks are great for blasters as well - I'll have to paint them black though

My first lightsaber
The bulb inside is long gone but it has pride of place in my collection - it saw a lot of action back in the day :D

Talking of lightsabers, my forum saber has just turned Green
