Dispatches: Inside Royal Mail Channel4 on Manday at 8pm

Yeah, I doubt it is going to really present a balance view as that would not make great viewing - everyone wants scandal but no one will ever make a Dispatches programme about people doing their jobs well

I think it is pretty easy to give the Royal Mail a hard time but in general I have always had a pretty good service and although prices have gone up recently - I think this is only a reflection of market forces (RM forced to deliver the no-profit items) and economic forces (labour and fuel costs)

Will need to watch this like woman watch horro films through your fingers

I also doubt it will be an accurate portrayal of the system, but will be showing what happens when folk get bored at work, any place where the work gets repetitive folks will find some way of elevating the boredom, many many moons ago I worked in a food production plant that made all the pies & pizzas for M&S & you really do not what to know

Got to agree with Iain I have never had a problem with RM either but this recent price increase is OTT IMO

It most certainly give a bias view and give them hardtime but it will be interesting to see what they say :|

That's an understatement. I was chatting to one of the women who work at my local postoffice today and she admitted she was shocked at the price increase and said not an hour goes by now when a customer doesn't react with fury when quoted for a small/medium, light-weight package. I told her don't worry, people won't stand being ripped off for long and soon start using parcel couriers instead who are MUCH cheaper now.
It's scandalous. And nothing to do with covering costs. That's a little naive. With the phenomenal boom of internet enterprise their pockets have never been so lined. Their costs are being covered like a mother-****er!

Sky+ is set to record, cheers for the nudge.

I'll be keeping an eye out for Jamie's missing Bib & a parcel my mum sent to me ~5 years ago :p

I understand its on at 8pm but when is exactly is Manday?

Is that when Kennerbabe is on TV?

Lol

I had assumed 'Manday' was the 14th March (steak & BJ day), then I realised that ship has sailed this year!

I have just seen an advert for this programme and it is NOT Royal Mail being filmed. Our Mail Centres and Delivery offices are not set up the way you see in the film. Wrong uniform as well. To me it looks like Yodel, who are known to be one of the worst delivery companies for the way they handle parcels.

Then Roya Mail should sue for defamation. I don't think anyone with half a brain though would think this is how RM would handle the post.

The problem is Rich that because Royal Mail have been the main delivery service for years, people automatically think its Royal Mail in these programmes. Also in the advert it says 'private delivery', we are still publicly owned.

We also get blamed for a lot of the **** ups other delivery comes do. Recently had a complaint in our office of a parcel being left at the wrong address on the doorstep. Investigated and found that the driver delivering to that street didnt have a parcel for that address that day. Went back to the customer and said that parcel was not ours, can you confirm who it said delivered it in the invoice. APLE which is Amazons own delivery service, not Royal Mail. The worst thing is, didnt even get a sorry from the customer for her mistake and going mental at us.

Unfortunately the British love to complain.

My mother used to work in a Theatre and almost got fired for posting tickets to a customer when she wasn't aware it was a pickup. The reason being the guy wanted to pick them up and when they arrived at his house the wife opened them. Discovered he was having an affair! He complained to the Theatre that my mother had ruined his marriage!

Beat me to it Chris, I saw the advert myself (well half saw it out of the corner of my eye). Looks like its a secret camera job in a couriers depot. Should be interesting considering the recent swing in favour on here from RM to couriers.

Looks like people just being people to me, when left unwatched to many of us let our standards drop and it happens in any business where the management is not on top of things.
