No question there is a huge demand for them and will elevate Disney to hero status, fantastic way to get major buy in from the fans. I for one will cut Disney a lot of slack if they give us this

Would quite like a half way version myself; all the digital cleanup (additional black inside snowspeader etc) but return to the version without all the extra CGI character (giant frogs on tattooine?!?!) nonsense and of course the original ending to ROTJ!

I managed to track down the dvd release of the originals a couple of weeks back, it's so good seeing them like that again.

It just feels right.

I am desparate to get a bluray player and the bluray version though, want it for the cut scene bits!

Yep, love watching them on the dvd or even better vhs but love the idea of seeing them again if full HD blu ray glory - **** I would consider upgrading my tv and getting a decent speaker set up to see it at its best

That's amazing news. Do you know if they'll be cleaned up at all? Basically remastered but without all the Lucas CGI nonsense added. That would be perfect. I have the completely untouched originals on DVD and while they're better than Lucas's horror shows they also not great quality. Especially when watch on a modern flat screen HDTV.

I believe that they are cleaning the original negatives for these releases so they will be without the CGI stuff and not just a transfer from the laser discs.

I wonder how much money Disney had to give Fox to get the distribution rights back for New Hope. I didn't expect this release to happen any time soon.

Yeah I always hated the way Lucas insisted on sourcing the original theatrical version from an old video tape or something, to punish the people that didn't want to watch his crap special editions. Anybody with Adobe Premier/After Effects and an original reel could have put out a better version than the DVDs.
