Customs Charges

Well, here in the Netherlands my experience is that they leave everything under $50 alone, so that would mean no taxation for you Tim. Then again, other standards might apply in the UK.

They'll only add the shipping costs to the total when the item price is above the taxation limit so I think you're safe to appeal the charge Edd.

Im almost 100% sure this is correct, if your item value doesnt qualify for charges then you shuldnt get any tax at all.

I got an unusual one at the weekend - I asked the seller to mark the value at $30 which they did, but I got a letter from Customs asking for evidence of the value/price paid. I didn't want to risk losing it so have sent them the ebay receipt showing the real price ($200) so I guess the bastards will now just charge me based on that.

Just a warning that marking a low value doesn't guarantee getting away with it.

ALWAYS send 2 payments when doing the low value thing, first for the $30 - $35 & then the remainder, I often forget, but that's the way round this one Edd

And its also a case for fraud for the seller too lol, they could take it further as he has broken the law.
