Hi

I'm new to the forum. When you click on any link it takes you away from the forum, i sometimes don't find my way back!

Suggestion: Why don't you change the settings so links open as a new tab? Then forum users can click on a link to see photos, which will open as a new tab. Then people will stay on the forum rather than leaving.

All other forums i use work this way

Hope you don't mind a suggestion from a newbie

Cheers

Paul

click the middle wheel on your mouse and it opens the link in a new tab.
If you don't have the middle wheel, then just right click, and open in new tab.

Or just hold Ctrl then click with the left button as usual

I have these saved "tabs" that link directly to my most used sites at the top of my page.

Don't know if you have that setting on a PC but safari on the MAC has it. It was very useful when we lost our 'logo' for a while and there was no other way to get back to the home-page.

Bloody Mac users

If you want this on a PC, just download Safari from the apple website, and away you go...

I would have thought for sure you would have this facility on firefox or explorer but then it's been so long since i've used a PC (thank god) i can't be sure. It's a lifesaver tho. Makes life so much easier.
They're called "bookmarks" so search for that on your PC or when in firefox or whatever you use for a search-engine.

[sarcasm]Has Apple patented it? Maybe that is the reason.[/sarcasm]

All modern browsers have this.

By the way, you can tell any modern browser to open a link in a new tab.

The bookmark tabs are automatically added on google chrome when you bookmark a page, much like yours Pete.

Easy bookmarking for pc users: Ctrl + d

They must be there somewhere, the browsers are always nicking ideas of each other and what one does another can usually do to. I tend to go for as little as possible at the top of the browser, so switch all these options of first time I use the browser leaving just tabs, back button and address bar.

I've found them to save me a LOT of time when going to sites I frequently use. :p

I can imagine they do...

Its habit for me, going back in time when I had a **** second hand PC, turning of every extra screen option Internet Explorer had helped me surf the web quicker.
Not so much of a problem now, but its stuck with me.

Also I like the look of the screen with less clutter (try ppessing F11), I am often at friends and their IE is grotesque. The top of IE takes up about half the screen, Tabs, address bar, norton anti virus bar, google search bar, shopping bar, ebay bar, aaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!.

You have to scroll half way down the screen to read more than two posts. Again this is not as bad with the higher resolutions we use these day's but its an old habit and I have stuck with.

Bit of on screen OCD I'm afraid...

Every time someone in the family wants help with their computer I always hope for non-browser related questions!
They tend to be unaware of the option to not install searchbars and such, and they are flooded with them, and they are ten times slower because of it!

Thats what my clutter free browsing preferences stem from :D

Well, there's not much clutter with only bookmarks, if you get too many for the bar, it goes in a drop down menu on the right edge of the browser.

Aaaaaarrghhhhhhhh! The mess, I can't stand it!!!!!!!!

I think you 're right, old habits die hard I guess :(

I just open the tabs I need for my session (sounds dodgy  ) and Ctrl + Tab my way through them as I need them.

Nice to see Illustrator and Photoshop in your Taskbar. Working on something? (tell me to sod of if you want  )
