Terrible, horrible news! 2016 continues to be a bitch of a year for celebrity deaths, but I never imagined Carrie would be one of them :-(

I imagine there will be a great many readers on this forum who, like me, effectively grew up with Carrie Fisher in their lives as Princess Leia. She, along with Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford were three major landmarks on my formative years; seemingly ever-present giant presences who dominated my world. As I grew older and I saw Carrie in other things, especially when interviewed on chat shows, I fell in love with her wit, charm, personality and humour, just as I was already in love with her great beauty. With her passing we have lost not just a true Star Wars icon, but also a major Hollywood star, a brilliant raconteur and a searing intellect. I will miss her tremendously.

My thoughts are with her family and friends at this tragic time
