Treading carefully... I'd like to ask if anyone has an archive I could raid for the scanned image of three figures hardbacks, or of course if anyone knows who I might be best asking of help:

- Leia Organa
- Rebel Soldier (Hoth)
- Dengar

NO resealing or dodgy dealing going on here, this is literally to print out at home/work and use as a better backing to enhance the display of my non-sonic-welded figures... To explain better, using the 'slap it together method' I came up with the below:

But, I think they will benefit from being individually cased and one broken down figure per case/card. I am happy with any version of the card that may exist as a scan, I really don't want to even attempt mounting them to an original card back as they are special to many of us in their own right too..

Failing this I'll stick to plan A and mount them on plain black card.

Cheers
Steve

First stab with a med-res grab from the wonderful world wide web... In some ways its scary what you kind find like this and what you could do with it, but I'm pretty happy to have found thee pics to be able to try the idea out.

I think it works myself as an idea... What are all your thoughts???
fingers firmly crossed for kind feedback.... eek...

Looks weird - but in a good way! I was going to suggest backing them on a card back when I saw your purchase in the LA thread.

They look good. Do you still need a leia one?

Thank you! :)

They look good in a pic, I still need all three really in hi-res if you have them to share...
Thanks
Steve

I have those and something else in mind as well. It would be easy to make custom background for these with the Kenner race track

Great idea Steve, really cool way to display your unassembled figures 8) . Have you thought about enlarging the colored area behind the parts or replacing the picture with one monotone colour keeping only the nametag and the kenner logo?
Don't get me wrong, i love your set up but the parts almost seem to dissappear against the bussy background.

Please can you let me me know how you mounted the parts on the card eg the first pic on the plain card, looks really cool and have a friend with a none sonic Welded stormie who is looking for display ideas

Thanks

Pretty simple really, found the appropriate cardback scans online (simple Google search), printed them out on the work laser printer, not a great colour match, but I prefer them to not be perfect and in turn look as if they are trying to be something they're not.
I then stuck them with spray mount adhesive to a plain piece of card that fits the wonderful GW Acrylic MOC cases and trimmed to size.
The non-sonic welded pieces are then held in place with blu-tac, paying careful attention to not put it on any of the paint work for fear or damage.
A year or so later and they are holding well and having taken the Rebel Soldier apart (as a test piece), there is no discolouration from the blu-tac either.

I think this is a fun little display project but if I were you I wouldn't muck around printing off repro cardbacks, why not simply buy a couple of genuine cardbacks? For Dengar and Rebel Soldier they're pretty cheap and it keeps everything authentic.

To be fair I'd rather not destroy the real cardbacks, ones i'd want to be displayed like this would need to be rip/tear free, blu-tac I use would leach oil into them and ruin them. Unlike the beater figs I repaint to make 'un-made Kenner lines', the cardbacks you mention still have a value and a collectability.

I also don't see any Repro connotation with an office printer and a cereal packet!

Would using scans of the Gentle Giant 12" cardbacks give you more space to fit everything inside the area?

Just a thought...

If I had speedy (rather than rusty taking longer than a snail to slide a mile) photoshop type skills (or could be bothered), the idea to increase the blister colour block in size would be the ideal route IMO, in turn keeping them standard MOC dimensions but I'm both lazy and happy with them as they stand.

I was going to say that using a real cardback might be better, but this is a good point.

Nice display piece :)

It's fairly simple to enlarge the bubble. You just need to select the area using the lasso tool or whatever you feel most comfortable using and then 'free transform' or use one of those resizing options on the selected area. Keeping the edges smooth is the only issue I can see.
