I am looking for a good and cheap courier to send a parcel to the states.

The size of the parcel is outside of what is allowed on normal Royal Mail services and I cannot reduce it.

Weight wise it is not too bad at 1.8kg and the size is not huge (55cm x 36cm x 17cm) so I checked Parcel force. When i stopped laughing I started to look around and cannot find a decent cost for sending this to the USA.

Any help or guidance much appreciated.

Steve

A parcel that size will cost roughly £30-£40 via courier to send to America, so I guess what it is you're sending will determine whether that's a good price or not. There's not really any 'cheap' way to send massive things abroad. Have a look on parcel2go.com.

By the way, why did RM refuse it? A small package only has to be under 2kg (which it is) and those dimensions should also be fine. Perhaps try a different post office?

Edd,

thanks for the info. Will check out the website.

Unfortunately both of the international services I would use (airsure and signed for) both have the same size restrictions as below:

Maximum: Length plus depth plus width 900mm
No single side must be longer than 600mm.

Looks like the sale of my Y wing will have to be UK only.......any takers?

Thanks

That's odd, as you probably know I sell a lot of games consoles and have 100% sent MANY parcels that are bigger than yours via small packet/signed for. Maybe try taking it to the post office rather than booking online?

yeah there is a size limit, i took one to the post office only for it to be delivered back to me a couple of days later with "over size limit" on it, it was only by 1cm as well lol.

i always use parcel2go, there is another one called parcelmonkey who are smilar with quotes from various couriers

That size limit is 100% correct - I have has to rebox 4 or 5 packages that have exceeded the 900mm total - even if they have been 920mm !
