Hey all.

I am looking at putting a cabinet up in our bedroom to display my loose figures. My wife has ok'd it which I was surprised at. Anyway, the wall space I have decided on is above the radiator in our bedroom.

My question is will the heat from the radiator affect the figures at all over time?? Obviously, the cabinet will be some way above the radiator so I don't think the heat will reach the cabinet.

What are your thought's o wise Jedi's (and maybe a few sith's!!!!!)

Yes mate, the long term effect will be harmful. Heat from radiators etc are a collectors nightmare :D

Yeah I agree with the above, best to keep a cabinet/collection well away from radiators and heat sources. I think keeping loose figures slightly cool is going to be better than slightly warm for the paint and plastic Imo. Probably ok if it was a long way above but you don't want the wood of the cabinet getting warm :!:

****ing hate radiators! I'd say don't turn them on but knowing women and taking into account u had to get authorisation from the Mrs to put up a cabinet am guessing the heating is on a hell of a lot in ur house

I don't see a problem as long as there isn't exstream temperature changes and they don't get really hot. This is just my personal opinion, it's better than having them stashed away in the loft for example.

Could also add something like this to deflect the heat away from the cabinate

Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to do a little experiment with a small shelf fixed above the radiator where the bottom of the cabinet would go to see what heat it picks up. To be fair the radiator is my side of the bed so it's mostly turned down as I don't like sleeping in a hot or warm room. If I could I would have the windows open all year!!!!

The heat from your rad will make no difference, unless you are placing the cabinet directly on top, which you are not. Put them on display and enjoy them Chris.

Hey Neil.

The cabinet is roughly 8 inches above the radiator. I have the radiator set to 3 so doesn't pump out a huge amount. If the Mrs had her way it would be on MAX!!!!!

Had the cabinet up since Saturday, not filled yet and have been checking how much heat hits the cabinet and it's hardly any. Might put a shelf
in-between as a shelf is always handy!!

Mate just fill the fecking cabinet. Stop dicking around, it's not a bloody Bunsen Burner! You will be absolutely fine.
If you think, there are collections all over the world in houses far hotter than 8 inches above your radiator (which probably needs bleeding).
At least the general ambient temperature is fairly consistent.

Imagine the temperature change of a MOC in the post, cold van, distribution centre, cold can, distribution centre, cold van, warm house.

Fill the fecking cabinet!

yeah man stop dicking round and procrastinating and fill it up

Personally I'd leave the potf nikto out as they have very brittle bubbles and that is a head ache you don't want to come home to mate.

I thought it was only for loose figures? Can we see a photo when it's finished please.
