black cape bib fortuna?

Mmmm......

How did a proto Fett get from US to the UK to a loft 25 years ago?

Major gamble in my opinion.

If it was real it would be epic.

Its a nice collection.

have sent him an email that says i quote

"i hate to tell you mate but i have had alot of bad feedback about the bib, the squid head and the boba fett as fakes the rocket has been puled on the boba and the other 2 bib and squid head have had there capes dyed so your friend is not a good guy at all selling them as genuine, bad stuff buddy thought I'd let you know gonna give these a serious wide birth mate and i would think about letting your friend know they are fake, if he doesn't already know that is!
you need to chat to him and mark the items mentioned as repro buddy ok, sorry to give bad news your a sound guy but your friend sounds dodgy as hell.

cheers Mark"

the rest of the items seem ok.

I know its possible- but I don't understand why everyone didn't go in their loft in 1998 when Episode 1 was on the horizon and prices were going through the roof.

yeah real shame as the rest of the items look ok, but the bidding will go mental I'm sure, as said before people think its all great, before doing some real checking and investigating.

hi guys got a reply from him I quote

"I think i will remove him and put another in their place as it is causing so much discussion? I would not sell these if i knew there were originals although they do look good! I have already said Bobba fett is most likley a factory fault and had fallen out, Didnt no squid face was a problem as they do come in different shades. I will have a good a look at them once get home! Cheers Jeff"

mmmmmmmmmm DODGY for sure big time!

It ll be fake. Does the seller or his friend have any affiliation to a Kenner employee? Without any provenance I wouldn't go near it with a barge pole

As much as I hate 3rd party grading services, I wouldn't touch an un graded/un authenticated, easy to fake variation like that, with a 10 foot pole. Items that easy to fake are the only reason why CIB/afa has any use to the community (in my opinion). I know that there is an authentic black Bib out there, it's on a sample card, has provenience to Kenner, and has been authenticated by Derby/CIB, same can be said for the white and red caped bibs, 10,000 fakes to every one legit.

Joe are you sticking about here?
It might mellow you out 8)

I'm actually a more mellow guy than what you've seen here by me, (easier to be when I'm not being trolled or insulted)...lol
I plan on being around here a bit more than previously, so we'll see.

Cheers

This is beyond my experience mate.

But I only buy loose from good sources. Thought of contacting UKG to see if they've ever heard of one or brianstoys?

Doesn't look right to me,but I'd consult with Tom Derby if I were you. The fact that the seller is also selling some other obviously fake items is cause to not even need to go to Tom to determine that they're fake IMO. Just avoid this one and wait til one that comes from a more solid source comes up for grabs.

Cheers
Joe

The coo (country) is sanded of! Noone would do that to a proto!

Also: A proto has no marks at all or full coo.....never a mixture!

You can also see that the cape is handcut to the bottom. Its shortened for whatever reason :/

The COO definitely looks sanded off. There is a difference in the texture of the plastic in that area whic is noticeable in the close up pic. Im afraid if anything, these pics have confirmed all earlier suspicions that it is a fake. If you want to know more about preproduction Bib's you could contact Alex Bickmore on RS. I believe he still has a genuine Red Cape bib.

There's a red Coat bib and a white coat Bib but no record of a black coat Bib. These things dont just turn up in loose collections found in attics - that's the stuff of fairy tales and a real alert that some one is bullshitting before you even look at the pictures. Also these things dont sell for 99p auctions they sell for 1000's of pounds with a COA and some proper provenance.

As Wolff says you either get no copyright/COO details or full details. Never seen a prototype with copyright details and no COO. The black cape does look like a good quality custom though. Even the stitch is dyed, and undyed stitch is usually the first give away.

Dyed capes tend to shrink due to the boiling water and dying process.......So always look at where the cape length is at...if it looks like a mini skirt....you kinda know.
