As a focus collector before and something I'd like to do again in future, it got me thinking about good figures to collect and why.
For example, you'd have to be nuts to do a Boba Fett focus. Even common MOC's and loose figures are expensive, and he's riduculously popular so any unique pieces will be long since hoarded.
Then of course you have figures like Madine, where every MOC and loose variation would cost you under £20, apart from the 5k a tri logo costs.
Finally you have figures like Amanaman that were only available on 2 cardbacks. you'd run out of interesting things to collect pretty quickly!
So, I think it should be a figure that's been sold worldwide so you could ge tthings like square Meccano cards and Popy boxes,, available since at least ESB so you have plenty of cardbacks to collect, ideally a few figure and card photo variations, and of course you don't want any (or many) "holy grail" pieces in there.
I'm going to stick my neck out and go for Obi Wan. Several figure sculpts, cardback photos, and dozens (hundreds?) of cardbacks. I also think Spoon's Han Hoth focus was a wise choice. My Luke Bespin one wasn't a great idea, as any Palitoy's or foreign MOC cost a fortune. However the amount of hair colour, boot etc variations gave me a lot to hunt.
