Heya Fellas, just puchased an AT-AT , legs a little yellow so I'm searching for the lower sections to replace, missing stickers but it's got it's original chin guns. Fark me it's bigger than I expected, gonna need a new display cabinet now

Need some advise re: electrics not working, tried fresh batteries, no good. Does anyone know of a repair guide someone might have put together or is it a case of nut it out over a couple a beers and hope I don't break it in the process?

Cheers Ryan

Sat down to clean the old thing, 1 screw driver and half an hour later and an AT-AT in bits. Cleaned all the contacts replaced bulb and now she works like new. Didn't even get a chance to crack a beer before I finished. Might have to start on the Falcon next I got the bug for pulling things apart. :D

Hey Poncho, It's not difficult mate it's more a matter of remembering how to put it back together. There are a couple of difficult bits I encountered for which I've drawn some shitty diagrams that may help you. Just remember to clean all contact points in the wiring thoroughly and check the connections on the motor as mine were a little loose which was causing the power to cut out when it moved. A little silicone spray around the moving parts for the lasers also helps it run smoothly. If you have any dramas send me a message and I'll try to help. Cheers Ryan

If they are your shitty diagrams.....i'd like to see your good ones

Fantastic Ryan! Really good guide 8)

Yeah.

I'd apply for a job with Toyfixer.com if I were you Ryan.

Seriously, how about a guide on the forum mate?

Ha Ha, thanks fellas,
Emiel, yeah I was thinking playing around with some sort of guide but the only problem I can see is I would need a fairly complete knowledge of the toys I would be drawing about.

I suppose I could start with the one's I have which are AT-AT, Falcon, AT-ST, X-Wing, Speeder Bike and Lukes Land Speeder ( I can't think of too much that would go wrong with the last two ). I would need to know what commonly goes wrong with these and how to fix them, common stuff like battery contacts and terminals are fairly common knowledge for most but I'm fairly new to vintage SW in comparison to many on here who would have a much better knowledge on this.

I worked out how to fix the X-wings open wing function by turning R2 around so I might have a play with that one over the next few weeks and I'll let you know when it's done.

Looking forward to your X-Wing experiments as I have one I must open up at one point because the electronics don't work. Be aware though that the European versions of the X-Wing don't have electronics.

If you want yourself a challenge by the way, find an Imperial Shuttle to play with. Loads of problems. Imperial Troop Transporter is a challenge too by the way, but you're already working on that aren't you.

Sure am, the shuttle may take a while though. They're not too common here and when they do come along they sell for big money.

No electronics in the Euro version? Well there you go I never knew that, it's exactly that sought of thing that will make it a huge challege. I may have to depend on other members knowledge and photo's of such items.

Of course I must stress I'll take any donations for the good of the guide. :D

ive always wanted a shuttle. infact this is the only item i want to complete my collection maybe a potf sail skiff too pricey though :)

:D sweet drawing mate,,,,seriously we have to work out a fix/repair guide section.. and everyone on here sends you one mystery figure for doing it???

you have some skills.

Emiel,i had a similar problem with my X Wing & opened it up & spun the motor round a few times like you do with a TIE & it worked again! :D

I'm a bit scared opening it up Mark, I'll PM you for help once I scrape the courage together. :)

He he thanks Imperial Nut I reckon I'd probably end up with more Klaatu's then I knew what to do with.

I'm going to have a go at some illustrations for repairing the electrics and open wing function on the X-wing in the next few days, when it's done I'll shoot Emiel a PM to see if he wants to start a repair section on the forum.

I guess another option would be if anyone else wants to do step by step videos we could link through You Tube as my vehicle collection is fairly limited. I also have to repair my Falcons electrics so I guess that will be the next venture after the X-Wing, stay tuned.

( Unless of course I **** it up then you probably won't hear from me again  )

Just a thank you for the info, brought an at-at for my sons birthday which didn't work but after reading this, got it working!! Thanks
