Anyone ever posted to Australia?

One coin will cost nothing, a few quid maybe. However insurance will be extra if it's expensive. Anything under 2kg qualifies for 'small packet' and is generally quite cheap.

I post stuff out to Australia all the time (no real difference in price to US and Europe) and always use Royal Mail International Signed For Delivery which is an additional £5 on top of surface mail/ air mail costs so works out to be around £8. Maybe less if your package is light and you can get away with a small letter. You get about £45 insurance value, for an extra £2.50 they insure up to £500.

I always get signed for delivery rather than tracking as most foreign operators wont track their end so you only get tracking to port.

Thanks

Just been going through all the info on Royal mail.com.

I'll have to go for the extra insurance, but if tracking stops when it leaves the UK, not much point in going for that?

AirSure can track abroad in most countries, International Signed For can't. If you trust the person then the latter will be fine.

Also remember that sometimes the tracking number can be followed on the other countries website, like if you post to the US via international signed for, when it leaves our country you follow it in the US on USPS website.

so the same should apply to Aus if they link well with royal mail.

I love it when that happens, I went through EMS site on one thing I sent and was getting so much tracking info it was sweet, however sent a figure to AFA last week and all I got from all sites, RM, PF, UPS and EMS was its reached countries destination and passed on for delivery, that was on monday and only today was it updated to delivered.

Tracking updates do appear to be a bit hit & miss. I got sent 7 packages from Carl recently, & i think 4 tracked ok, & 3 just tracked to the port. I was a little concerned about 1 (of the 3 that didn't track properly) which was a few days late, so i rang Auspost. They were able to track it immediately & confirm it was a few days away (which it was). I've had similar problems with tracking from US & within the US, so sometimes i guess it just doesn't quite work properly. I've never lost a tracked package though.

btw, thanks for your efforts Gary!

No worries mate

Want to make sure it's the safest option. Have had terrible problems in the past as I've sent stuff or been sent stuff from Australia
