Any Martial Artists on board...? General Discussion...

When i lived in the Philippines i started boxing (they're mad for it out there) but soon moved on to Muay Thai which i loved to bits, i did a week intensive in Thailand which totally broke me but was an amazing experience.

I havent got back into it since i came home as its pretty hard to find a gym in Dorset and really miss it.

It was a great technique to learn and has go me out of trouble on a few occasions.

Well impressed with the commitment of eveyone else, especially Gary. I've always wanted to learn a martial art and i like to think that seed was planted at an early age, dreaming of training with Yoda.

A martial art is a good thing to learn.

Many can still be learnt at any age, pretty much.

You just have to be clear on what you're looking for.

I'm glad I started. Wouldn't be here today if I hadn't!

Well after 3 months, 2 broken ribs and some blood, a lot of sweat and thankfully not too many tears....was awarded my intermediate Jiu Jitsu, White/Blue Belt today..!
Pictured here with my coach, Mario. Reckon he thought I deserved it after I trained for a week after the injury before realising it was broken ribs... :D
Well chuffed

Great photos Jeff. You do look different to the image i had in my head

I'd of loved to have got into this sort of thing.

My son took up MMA about 18 months ago. Last year his instructor suggested he went to a tournament. He'd never been to one before, was the shortest and lightest, least experienced and lowest belt. He was as nervous as hell but won every fight and took home the gold medal!

Getting ready for his first opponent, game face on.

The winning blow in the final fight!

Getting the glory.

your lad really made a mess of that kids face Jez

Fight, Flight or Freeze. He fought.
All kids were fine afterwards. Coincidentally, he had another grading today and has now gone up from Red to Yellow and now Green, which is still 2.5 belts below the lad he smashed in the final!
Can't get him to tidy his room though!
