Hi Guys
I am looking to transform the way I display my collection and was wondering if anyone can help me find back drop ideas for my figures
I am not much of a model builder so are there such things as downloads of printable backgrounds online
Was thinking of the death star corridor, Hoth landscape etc
Any help would be great
Thanks

I have been thinking of doing the same sort of thing or making dioramas/mini sets in the pigeon holes in my display cabinet. If you don't want to make 3 dimensional sets/spaces I would suggest getting stills or landscapes from the films off google or whichever source and then printing them to the size you want. I want to do an in scale with the figures Falcon interior and Jabbas throneroom, ... amongst other things :D

Thanks Andy
I was thinking that but as you say its a scale thing
I may do something like the Kubrick backdrops which are cardboard and pretty cool

Have a look through this website, tons and tons of printable 3 3/4 scale decals,
you need to click the decal link to each diorama.

yeah you can do a google images search for star wars scenes, just filter for extra large ones that you can print out.

like this for example http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20091202184047/starwars/images/6/67/Battle_of_Hoth.jpg

or you can simply play the dvd/blu ray and do a screen shot.

That's a bloody good idea. If you played the dvd/blu-ray through your computer you could just freeze it where you want and save the image. Space scene, Tatooine, Hoth, Endor forest etc? Good shout, I might try it

How on earth do you do a screen shot of a blu-ray. :?

Good question!? Not exactly sure how to do that but it's prob possible. I'm guessing you'd need some sort of software. I was just thinking that if you could save an HD image it would be better quality/sharper when you printed it. The problem with taking stills from any sort of video source is you're always going to have quality issues :|

Endor would be a great one.

Such a great variety of characters, costumes and colours.
Stormtroopers, Biker Scouts, Imperials, Rebels, Droids, Ewoks.
Not to mention the Glider, catapult, AT ST Walker, Speeder Bike...
You could even add some real wood.

Well i know how to do all that on a laptop but can't even begin to imagine how you take a screen-shot on a tv and then how you'd get it from a tv to a computer so it can be printed. :? :? Hurts my brain to even think about it.

Screen-****

I'm not saying get a screen-shot/**** from a TV, I'm saying get one from your computer. I don't know if it's possible, never tried it.

 oops

Yeah, right. A screen-SHOT from a laptop is easy but you can't play blu-rays on your laptop. (you can't on mine anyway)
So the question still remains. How does one take screen-shot of a blu-ray? :?

I just typed in Star Wars matte paintings in google images and there's tons of amazing artwork and landscapes on there, anything you could want :)

you could always use a digital 720p/1080p HD copy if you don't have a bluray drive. you'd have to find the source of one yourself though

thing is, you dont need blu ray for a backdrop screen shot anyway, like said above a dvd is good enough, if you use powerdvd or free software like greenshot you can take some super cuts.

Yup, you would be limited by your screen resolution anyway...

if you want to get serious try something like this https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/intensity/ but as others have said a DVD grab should be adequate.

I followed the links to this page and found some excellent death star section stuff. Ordered some foam board and I have some led strips. See what I can come up with .
