Hi

Now bare in mind I have just dropped on these recently. Basically I have a carrier bag full of various comics from the 80's and 90's, mostly Marvel and DC but there are others.

It might be a load of **** but I have seen some things that caught my eye. Mainly Dredd comics ...I'll be keeping those. I just thought that these things might be interesting to a collector, if there are any out there. Failing that i'll probably take out the nicest covers and slap the lot on Ebay.

Does anyone know anything about these comics? Are any particularly rare or valuable to collectors? Is anyone interested in them?

None of those i'm afraid. I think these are all US release imports. Real eclectic mix. Not a comic collector myself but I do like these. Once my camera software is sorted i'll take a few pictures and stick 'em on here

There are a few TMNT comics by the way. No Ghostbusters. Got a Superboy comic. Never even knew there was a 'Superboy' :?

I'm more of a comic collector than a Star Wars guy so if you need any information/valuations of what you've got just upload a pic or list and I should be able to help

Just waiting for a new version of PhotoShop and then I'll get some photos up. Some valuations would be great :)

Cool, I'd be happy to help. Plus having some knowledge on a subject helps in a place like this where I often feel lost amongst the real knowledgeable Star Wars guys

Most guys on here have some sort of niche that can help out vintage collectors in some way. Doesn't have to be a vast knowledge of the Star Wars collecting world. Sometimes it's crafting or knowledge of other vintage lines including comics. It's all good :)

Is that Nemesis the Warlock comic in full colour? Also is it a reprint of an old 2000AD comic? I never knew they released that character in that format and the artwork back in the day was amazing, as was the ABC Warriors and pretty much all of 2000AD.

Hi Ian

Just had a look at the Nemesis the Warlock one. It is full colour. Issue number 4 from 1984. Really cool looking comic and in absolutely mint condition, like it just came from the shop. A lot of these are. Obviously been stored well.

If anyone wants to make me an offer for any of these then PM me :) ...before i start liking them too much!

Eagle was a us company if memory serves correct who used to reprint the old
2000ad strips but get them recoloured. Some worked well some not so well, they did some cracking strontium dog ones.

There is never that much interest in a lot of the late 80s -90s stuff to be honest (apart from the obvious batman xmen Spider-Man etc etc) everyone thought they were sitting on the next gold mine and runs were huge and people bought in bulk. I keep mine and let the kids read em or bring a handful down from the lift every now and then.

Superman and the Ravers sounds like the best team up ever.

I know they aren't worth a lot. Probably £1-2 each for most of them. Amazing really when you consider the work that's gone into the production.

Comics seem to be a complete minefield as far as value goes. The work on lots of these comics is phenomenal, but if you look at Scream! comics the artwork is comparably shabby and they don't age well. And yet the Scream! editions are worth perhaps a tenner each in reasonable nick.

Check this edition of MAD magazine out - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mad-Magazine-202-UK-Issue-/141346327427?pt=UK_Magazines&hash=item20e8e5cb83 - £1.50 BIN price  I read it back in the day and it is a great issue. It really is 'cheap!' Some of the more popular editions such as the original Star Wars or Indiana Jones go for a few quid.

Comic collecting is a funny old game

Thanks for the 2000AD info. I thought Eagle was the comic name (which seemed odd to me to have eagle on there as Dan Dare split from that comic when 2000AD started up and I don't think there were any other characters from Eagle that crossed over), never thought it might be a separate company/publisher. I'll have to track down the Strontium Dog ones, loved The Killing story line and even used to play the ZX Spectrum game of it.

Cheers - Ian
