This was a nice example and came close to the 5K mark which I think is a fair amount less than the last couple that went on UK ebay. It also shows you that there a few of these out there compared to some of the other 12 backs.

That's a great price in the current climate. The ones that went higher were Chewbacca though?

cheers Jason

No, the ones I saw on ebay were Luke 12 backs, 2 of them in a short space of time with a BIN of 7.5K each (or somewhere there a bouts).

I can't see them in the completed listings section so it must have been a couple of months back or so and I think there was a slash through the BIN price so I guess offers were accepted.

That all being said I've just spent a while looking through google and can't seem to find a mention of them anywhere! I'm either going mad or not looking in the right place. I'm sure there's something on line that shows you the value that things went for on ebay (not the completed sales link on ebay), so if anyone knows it could they post the link to make sure I've not been seeing things.

The Lukes you're talking about both sold for around 6.2K each and were off eBay deals I believe :!:

Serious money

The fact the Luke was in the US may have held it back a little, not that 5K is anything to turn your nose up at

The only Palitoy 12 backs less in number than Luke are Chewie(and I don't think there is much in it between those 2) large head Han and VC Jawa.

Another interesting point is in the past few years the handful of Palitoy 12 back Lukes that have sold(that I know of) have all been on B cards :D

That reminds me of one thing I forgot to say about the one I posted up, it again follows the pattern that the B backs have the rounded end to the sabre where the tip meets it and the A backs have a chiseled end.

There aren't many A backs to compare for this theory but so far that's the only way I've noticed them come. One thing I've never looked into is if Ben and Darth also follow this pattern so it would be good to hear anyone with examples of these finding (don't all such at one though! )

Happy New Year - Ian :D

My Palitoy 12 back Luke A card MOC

Looks sharp and not rounded Ian so your theory is holding on this one :)

That's why I thought they'd be in the A backs.

It's good to see this pattern is emerging and thanks for putting the picture of yours up J.

Now the next thing to see is if Ben and Darth follow the same pattern? I do have a resealed A back Ben that had a lettered chisled tip sabre, and although I'm certain it's the original Ben with the card back it would be great to see if the sealed examples out there follow the same pattern. Please pass on any information you have about these (or Luke if you own one).

Thanks again :D

Ian

From memory I am 99% sure my Ben had a chisled sabre and it was an A card and my Vader had the rounded end which was a B card!

Thanks for that, it's certainly looking like the first Palitoy's released must have been packed with the same figures as the US initial release.

Is there a side by side idiots guide for these sabre tips?

I'll check my 12 backs if I know what to look for!

cheers Jason

Your looking between the first two variants and the third one for the flat to round tip comparison.

look forward to hearing your finds!
