Ok today i got my first 2 afa sealed figures omg they are awfull.Bad condition well one of them is bad the other is ok ish.Dirty figure paint chipped all over the shop why on earth would u send these figures to be graded? what sorta blind stupid grader would not clean figure or do they not do this ?One of the figures the one is pretty good nick has a dif colour right leg yellow and left arm yellow is this a ok variant?i like him hes not bad at all but the other what a joke!!!!!!(boba fett figures)

Thoughts and opinions would be great il try take a few snaps and show you guys.

I dont think id be ever grading figures or pursuing buying sealed loose graded.

Can't really understand what you have done from your message.

Have you sent them sealed MOC figures for a U grade? If so, you deserve what you get IMHO. I don't condone U grading, but can you expect AFA to do anything apart from remove the figure from the packaging and put it in a sealed case. What if they damaged the figure while cleaning it?

Or have you sent them loose figures for grading, in which case, you could have cleaned them before you sent them?

Ok sorry didnt explain very well lol id never get anything u graded for a start.I bought the 2 figures graded already and very disapointed with one tbh the other is ok.They are both boba fetts one is a 75ex+ nm it is awfull disrt all over the figure paint chipped all over.Maybe its not so much the graders fault but why has it even got a 75?it is awfull cond.Id say this figure is a c5 if that!!

Personly i think the pics dont show up half the bad bits but you get a idea.Paint is very very chipped on shoulders also.

I wouldn't mark that a C5. I've seen some Fetts that are much worse. All the green paint on chest usually completely rubs away, and that would be a C5 and below. I'd say this is about a C7.5. It's not too bad from what I can tell from the pics, though with the dirtiness it won't be anymore than a C7.5 really. Then again, I haven't got the figure in hand so I can't tell.

Any chance of some closer pics on the damage? And if it is just exterior dirt, surely it can just be cleaned?

It looks about a 75, that's actually a low score for AFA. Most people only want 85s and above - maybe 80s at a push.

See that other thread with the torched figure, that's a 20 which puts things into perspective

I hope it didn't cost too much, as you'd probably get a loose mint figure much easier

Ive tried to take better pics tbh its hard.Im shocked at the condition ive pulled one out of a toy box in far better condition for a few pounds. Not impressed cheers for the input tho makes me feel this is right then.Id not bother with anything less than a 90 plus then lol as even the 80 graded one has a few marks on it.

But AFA90+ graded figures are (far too) expensive.

You're much better off foregoing AFA and buying loose ungraded figures from respected sellers here or on other forums. Chris (Caswellbot) for instance has some incredibly mint figures for sale.

Yes i have spoke with caswell none of the figures are really the ones im after :(

Thanks Emiel.

I did send you a PM Nigel staiting that I had over 15 of the figures from your list a few days ago.

I dont think I actually heard back from you Correct me if Im wrong?? :|

Hahaa thx guys yes i over paid for a crappy fett for sure darnnnn lol dohh there was the odd figure i wanted in there, ive also aquired quite a few since we spoke.Im trying to get the harder to get more expencive figures first at moe.

AFA scoring is meaningless and and the terms they use to describe condition are wildly incorrect. I've seen a VC Jawa with a torn up cape and the description is "very good condition". I've seen MOCs that look as mint as i've ever seen get an 80 and fairly poor condition items with obvious cosmetic damage get an 85. It's all bullshit.

Too True, lets face it with AFA all your getting is someone's paid opinion neatly packed into a perspex box. Spoke to a toy dealer once who did a test and sent off a figure to AFA which scored an 85 he then cracked it open and sent it back for the very same figure to be returned with a grading of 70. He had the money to waste on testing his theory that AFA was crap!

I would be doing somthing about it then if i was said dealer.Well there goes collecting afa lol id never touch anything afa again. How do these companys get away with crap like this?ahwell all fun and games now whos got a mint luke storm trooper they want to sell me lol.

Watch out when you're buying a loose Luke Stormtrooper....Luke comes with the solid black blaster which is really hard to find, so most sellers sell him with the normal Blue/Black blaster....If you want to be sure and get him with the correct black blaster i'd buy an AFA'd one

AFA also grade repro weapons and incorrect ones as they have admitted to not authenticating weapons in the past ;) lol

You would only get a correct blaster from an AFA graded figure if the person who submitted it sent the correct one
