hi all!

i was thinking about this on my way to work this morningand thought it would be a good one to talk about, you always hear stories about people putting a crappy old plate for 50p at a car boot sale, stickking it on ebay and making £500

anyways mine aren't very exciting but i thought i'd add them anyways so here goes.....

1) i bought this dvd from my local charity shop for 50p called 'jeffrey bernard is unwell' it stars peter o'toole, this sold on ebay for £44.

2) i picked up 5 old spiderman comics 20p each at the carboot sale and it turned out one of them was very rare, had loads of questions about condition on ebay about it i think it was amazing spiderman #121 i got £65 for it.

3)i was in forbidden planet about 6 years ago around xmas and picked up the kellerman star wars book on sale for £12.50 and recently sold it for £66

what are your best 3, can be star wars or non star wars :)

If we're talking non Star Wars, back in 1998 I bought 3 small resin figures from 'Dawn of the dead', the classic Romero Zombie movie. Found them in a back street model shop in Manchester, £4.99. They came in a small bag, no box.
Anyway, they were shoved in a drawer and forgotten until I had a clearout in 2007. I put them up on ebay, 99p start not expecting much. Well, I've never had so many emails over an ebay item as this one, from all over the world. Turns out these figures were very rare, winning bidder was from Canada, who paid £285. And these things were tiny, you could fit all 3 in a cigarette packet.
My best Star Wars profit was a boxed Palitoy Landspeeder, paid £45 for it at Memorabilia and sold it 3 years later for £180.

You might want to give people more than an hour to reply ;) My best score is probably a Palitoy ESB Han that I bought for £40 and sold for about £300.

i bought a nirvana postcard with pat smear on it back in the mid 90's for a £1! he wasn't a official member of the band he was a tour support guitarist! anyway sold on ebay early 2000's and it sold for £30ish :) score

vingtage wise sold a slave one ramp for £25!

Okay, well I have had a few really but the best one was when I bought a load of Britains figures in a plastic bag from a charity shop for £6. I got them home and in amongst them were what looked like kinder egg cowboys and Indians. I had just sold a load of Britains stuff from a car booty and made a few quid. The Britains stuff I sold instantly for £30.

The kinder egg looking cowboys and Indians turned out to be timpo stuff, one of which was a mounted Indian who ended up going for £110 but all the rest sold for £240 after fees, so in the end I had about £380s worth!

Cheers.

Bram

P.S My bests score was finding the Nien Nunb Toltoys on ROTJ. Just ask Iain!

I bought a Palitoy 30a back BSG for £26 - sold it for £700!

(some of you guys will be saying not the PBSG story again!, shut the **** up Andy!)

Hi guys I can take part, Best item I have ever bought are these, I got them in a charity shop for £10 I haven't sold them as I only know of one set of these in the world, I was however offered £1100 for them which I turned down.

Mine has been selling vinrage skateboard stuff. There's a company in Bristol that had a warehouse of old gear called Shiners. We did a tv feature on the place once and the guy let me buy up some stuff. I was buying old boards for £30 and selling some on for £300. My best buys were old vintage sweatpants ( jogging bottoms) I bought them for £3 a pair mainly old Santa Cruz ones but I had a few others with a fly graphic on the leg by a company called Madrid. Anyways had two Japanese guys in a bidding war, basically I named my price and for a £50 outlay I made £2000

The best one in the house of Chubb is from Jr Jr, he got a Star Wars Ep1 Jeff Grodon Nascar for 50p at a car boot sale and sold it on eBay for £4... Got back 8 times his outlay

Not bad for his first Star Wars related sale. 8)

You know those yugioh card dealers that strap onto your arm and flick the cards out? Well over the last 2 years i've bought 7 from car boots for 50- - £1 each and sold them all seperatly for a minimum of £30!
Also i bought a couple of Darth Vader voice changing helmets for £1 at diffo times over the last few years and sold 1 for £50 and the other for £40!
Lastly i bought a joblot of pokemon cards for £3 and sold the lot for about £300 with some indivduals going for £20 - £40!

Oh and just remembered, my lad was into wwe at 1 stage and he collected all the replica belts. The holy grail was the million dollar man belt which was impossible to get hold of especially in this country. We last year i saw 1 on a car boot table, played it cool and bought it for 20p. Did i sell it or did i give him it to wreck? I gave him it cos i know how much it meant to him. Anyways, a year later he grew out of wwe and found football so i sold all his stuff and for the belt i think it finished at £72! That's a good profit margin :D

Mine has to be a record, I bought a 7" single by a band called parva for 33p well actually I got 3 for a £1 from a cheap record shop in Manchester... They had just changed there name to kaiser chiefs sold all 3 at their peak for £70 each... Boom.

Next up isold sum condoms from a band called sum 41 given out as promo items for a single release... Average prices £7 each had about 50 to sell.

Star Wars not sure, hate selling stuff on. Probably a kubrick figure bought for £3 sold for £12.

Good thread.

About 15 years ago I bought a boxed AtAt from Thunderbooks in Blackpool for £10. Sold it five years later on Ebay for £100. Now i'm lamenting the sale and want another AtAt

Some good stories here.

I had a couple of decent scores over the last couple of years.

Star Wars: I managed to snatch a SW Palitoy Power Droid Moc for £6 on ebay. Sold it for £155.

Non Star Wars: I found an eBow in a charity shop near me. Boxed and fully working for £1. Sold it for £70 on ebay.
For those of you who don't know what an eBow is  - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Ebow-Plus-Electronic-Bow-For-Electric-Guitar-3248-/140971252577?pt=US_Pro_Audio_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20d28a9b61

Mine was identical to this. Box, Bag, CD et all. 8)
