WOW What an auction! Includes Carded Vlix and Blue Stars MOC

The whole argument is mute in my opinion, the fact that you got the items for far less than you were willing to pay even the the auction was "outed" proves that very fact.

This forum is by collectors for collectors in every respect, Liam's super sleuth abilities are always met with appreciation on here and the majority of members are supportive of his efforts.

Good work Liam your a champ!

A huge thank you to Ryan,Chris,Iain,Pete and Josh (sorry if I missed anybody! for arguing my case in my asbence. It is much appriecated guys. :)

Joe - I have no interest in bootlegs or Polish MOC myself but your collection is a sight to behold and I wish not to "fall out" with any collectors on the boards as at the end of the day we all share a love for starwars collecting Eh? 8)

I am sure you did not intend to but you did come across as "Big Collector v Small collector". I feel when this type of auction happens every member of the starwars collecting community should have a chance to bid on what they like- its the fairest way - think of it as a Ebay auction on a huge scale

As many people have already mentioned there is no rule against outing here- the majority of the members of this board to like it when I spot one of their desired items and I have actually got quite a reputation! :D

I would also back up what Iain has said, that Liam is very good at highlighting interesting items to people. He has sent me a number of PM's in recent weeks which was kind of him. Im sure he has done this for numerous others. It is probably the case that Liam felt that as so much was on offer in terms of variety in this auction he felt like throwing it out to a wider audience so to speak. There is no rule about outing auctions like this on these boards and he didnt out it on any other boards as far as I know.

Just my pennies worth.

Chris.[/quote]

Well I love it when I wake up to these kind of threads! I would just like to say that when I do out these auctions I aim to cause no arguements just to make the auction avaliable to as many different people as possible :)

Chris has got it spot on - "It is probably the case that Liam felt that as so much was on offer in terms of variety in this auction he felt like throwing it out to a wider audience so to speak."
I did not just out it for the more unusual rare items such as the Kleb, Vlix and Bluestars but for the more common boxed items that were avaliable.
There was also a limited editon stormtrooper guitar. Now I am sure you will agree that very unusual items such as that do not come up for sale often deservered to be advertised to the collector community . I know a simple google search would be fine. However, for the people who had no interest in bidding and for those on the boards who perhaps didnt even know one existed (me included! :) it was very interesting to watch the auction run.

Not saying that there is a "rule" against it here, I'm saying that it isn't as black and white and nicey nice as you're trying to play it off as being, regardless of your intentions or how many people here see it as a positive thing, because they were just spectators not bidders. The fact is that doing this invariably ****s over the collectors that do their work and find these. It's not big vs little guy as those with a complex would skew it as being. As I have said, I can see outing it to select people that you know have interest in specific items, but outing something like this publicly is something that I'll NEVER see as a good thing, as it will cost someone that did their work more money than they would have otherwise spent. Lets see you get screwed out of a couple of thousand dollars on an item more than it could have cost you and then I'll ask you how you feel about auction outing.

Cheers
Joe

I am not playing it off all "nicey nice Joe" just trying to write my side of the arguement. I am sorry you feel the way you do mate but I think there is no more I can add without repeating what has already been said. I post the link to the auction on here for the wider collector community to watch at their lesuire and bid if they liked.

I can safety say that I will never get screwed over $000s of dollar because I will never send that amount of money on SW collectables Besides just as Ryan says "the fact that you got the items for far less than you were willing to pay " means you werent screwed over that badly where you?

Liam

I reckon the person selling wouldn't mind seeing you getting "screwed"!

Coin a term "auction outing" and all of a sudden it enables some sort of clan destine excuse for ownership of it's knowledge and a god given right to a cheaper price.

All sounds like the hobbies gotten a little too serious for some.

I dont wanna sound like Im ganging up here Joe but I would say that not everyone necessarily has the time to systematically search or to search all the time. If someone had been away on holiday or had inadvertedly missed the auction Im sure reading the post made by Liam might make them very happy.

If something terrible had happened to me for a spell and I went AWOL but a great 3 pack item came up for sale and someone posted a live link to it on here I wouldnt be annoyed. People on here genuinely look out for eachother. I dont know of anyone on these boards that would deliberately out an auction to drive up prices simply because they cant buy it themselves. The post by Liam "MIGHT" have bumped the price up but this is really isnt measurable without surveying the bidders and asking them whether they heard about the auction on here.

Chris.

With all the name dropping and huge amount of cash talking, I think someone does not realize that we are no competition to items in the 10-20 thousand range. It is all a little over the top for me and to be honest, I am glad just to be able to share the hobby with the common guys on here. I am an American and I always find it ironic that this forum (UK based) allows me more freedom than the American one (RS) to express my opinion and share stuff.

Can't add anything else that hasn't already been said. Liam, dude, you've done nothing wrong at all so don't let it (and I know it hasn't  ) bother you

Thousands of dollars on SW stuff??? **** me... if the wife knew what I really paid for a 12back then she'd probably boot me out

Come on boys. It's Christmas time 8)

Let's get back to the tits :D

I'll NEVER agree that auction outing is right,SO we'll have to agree to disagree on that one, and from the attitude of those here, it's almost as if it's being done as a slight against those of us that can spend that kind of money on these items.

As for your plight of the wife booting you out if she knew what you spend, I feel sorry for you. My girlfriend gave me an extra $1000 to bring with me to the auction just in case I needed it to push the auction, and other items I was buying in a private sale, my direction. While she doesn't collect, she understands how important finishing a set that I've worked on for over 16 years is to me and would never scold me for spending my own money. IF the set I'm working on were as easy to finish as a set of 12bks collecting would be stress free.

Cheers

There we go again. I do not know I f I have ever discussed how much I pay for things or where or how much money I drop on things. ....you truely do not see how much of a total doushe braggard you really are. I could careless about your girlfriend and her $1000 dollars...but yet you feel the need to let me know about that and the thousands more you had to pay for some way overpriced toy.....This is getting stupid and you are one of the reasons I do not like to associate myself with this hobby. The guys here are really being quite politically correct and nice to you...I on the other hand feel you are self absorbed and full of yourself.

IF that's what you take from my posts then it's more to do with a complex on your part man. I'm not being a braggart or a douche yet. IF I wanted to be a braggart, I could just post a limelight. If I wanted to be a douche I could just hit you with a dose of the elitism that you're already accusing me of (without my having done a thing)
As for the fact that my gf gave me some extra money for the auction, it was more as a light laugh at the guy that has to hide his spending from his wife. I'd never lie about what this hobby costs.
I could care less what your opinion of me is. I didn't come here to start a fight, just to discuss that there ARE 2 sides to auction outing, BUT I'd never walk away from one either. I've also been quite cordial in my replies, as I'm genuinely NOT trying to attack anyone for their stance on auction outing.

I'm sure that you already had that page with the toys that you can afford bookmarked.
Nice attempt at provoking me. yawn...

Cheers

**** you should be able to buy a solid gold one with all your cash....**** your girlfriend may even pitch in a "G" and get you a case to keep it in....you lucky ****er.

Yawn.... Troll boy's getting tired of keeping to topics so he goes to his moms dildo drawer to sling out insults.
Problem is that he's just a keyboard warrior. Getting all hyped up because he disagrees with my opinion and doesn't know how to intelligently discuss it. I'd already posted my "agree to disagree" which is about as good as it gets to me walking away from a discussion.

Still genuinely not sure how disagreeing and discussing it is being arrogant, but ....meh. Not about to lose any sleep over it either

Cheers
Joe

Better than a richboy wanna be punk (Emo Fag Tattoo Artist) coming on her whining like a bitch about us poor people robbing you of your chance to win big auctions...I am glad the dildo joke got to you...as I remember you are the new one here and you are the one stirring up **** with your dumbass bragging.
