Would you still want Vintage if it cost a £1?

i buy what i like be it a 50p loose beater or a moc for £100.

for the love of our original trilogy and nostalgia of our beloved childhood toys from the 70s80s

My favourite purchase from Farthest From last weekend was a £5 loose figure with no accessories. I'd been looking for a Luke Jedi without a nose rub to replace mine for bloody ages. Thanks to Mark and Lee for that :)

Value and cost of an item doesn't bother me. If I need an item and I can afford it to me that's all that matter, whether it's a £1 or £10k item. People are too fixated on price rather than treat this as a hobby and collect what you want!!

You're very welcome mate, and it was great to be able to finally meet you after all these years on the forum.

Sure I would be very happy if all star wars items cost £1 each I did not start to collect in 2001 because of the value. You could get most of the items for great prices in 2001, damn I miss the good old days.

I saw him and said to Mark at the time he was a minter. If I hadn't not long been lucky at a boot fair he would have been mine! Of course, knowing how much they love a haggle now I'd have offered 20p for it or something. Just for giggles, like :D

We would not have sold him to you Si, because you'd be back 5 minutes later to say you'd broken the leg off it.

You and vintage don't mix well fella! :D

Hey Poncho, most people laugh when they see cheapo SW rip-offs (I do!). But don't forget, is it those old Turkey rip-offs that are now worth a fortune!? :D

I agree. Where there is profit there is greed and unfortunately that means 'investors' for want of a better name. All this short term flip approach does especially on our vintage desirable items is push the price up and make it harder for us true 'collectors' to afford them. Speaking as a collector, money is not the final aim but I'd also be a fool to not want my collection to at least hold its value! There is 'A New Hope' Prices cannot forever rise in any trade so we will see ups and downs in the future - just not the £1 low mentioned earlier!

Hey, it's repaired and looking mint again now :D I'm dead careful with vintage, me! :p

My wife asked me last night what I would do if prices for vintage started falling. She wasn't very impressed with my reply that this would let me buy more! :D

I certainly would. I collect a couple of things that are close to worthless and love it.

Because of Star Wars prices it does make the collecting achievement greater, I must admit though.

I haven't read all the responses but I cannot imagine anyone I know on this forum answering no to that question.

The thing is that when a lot of old school collectors started out you could pick up complete figures for less than that. In fact I remember picking up a few entire collections for around a tenner. i would go back to that in a heart beat.
