Would it be rude if I backed out of this deal?

how can the postal service he uses have a problem with your address ? do you live away from civilization or somewhere hard to get to ? there are other postal service options.

I hate backing out of deals but in this case I would have backed out ages ago, especially as he didnt have what you want, just ashame u decided on wanting something else instead of a str8 refund

I have a vaguely similar situation myself. Selling something to someone, told them there is no rush for the payment, and there isnt, then someone else enquired about the item. I hadn't heard from the buyer in a few weeks so i emailed him, he still wants it, so i told the second person "sorry, the original buyer still wants it". End of.
I'm in no rush for the cash and i know the original buyer will come through. Basic etiquette to email and check as the others have said.

Also, THREE MONTHS? That's taking the piss. A few days, a week at a push, but any more than that and i start to get pissed off. I always post my items within 3 days (bank holidays and weekends permitting). Don't see any reason why it should take any longer, unless you're advised up front that the seller is off on hols etc. even then i'd wait and send payment after they got back.

You're perfectly entitled to ask for a refund.

Yeah was just gonna say exactly the same thing.

I'm in the same boat as other posters, if I don't post within 2 or 3 days I get all stressed. 3 months is mind-boggling

I'd go with the refund, move on and buy something nice for Christmas.

Likewise - even if some major family stuff went down, I'd be able to find 20 minutes to box something up and post it over the course of a week. Or give it to a friend to do for you, 5 minutes. **** things happen in life, but you can't use that as an excuse to sit around feeling sorry for yourself or inconveniencing other people IMO. And I guarantee the 20 minutes needed to post something takes a lot less time and causes less stress than fobbing people off for months during a supposedly difficult time.

Couldnt agree more :)

I'd have opted for a refund as soon as knew that the initial item that was on the table was no longer available. On a side note. Its not cool if you tell someone that you'll keep an item and then pass it on to another person. Just my 2 pence worth. G 8)

Well some good news chaps, today I got my money back and the seller is going to send a few items on for me as an apology.

Thanks for your thoughts!
