World Cup 2018 Thread

I know I'm probably living in a dream world but looking at odds online £20 on England to reach the semis wins you £130 back

it's very do-able, If we come 1st or 2nd in the group we end up playing either Senegal, Poland, Colombia, japan in the quarters

if we win that we play Germany or brazil in the semis

We play those teams in the second round and then Germany or Brazil in quarters, not semis.

I think the England squad is as good as can be expected, Chamberlain and Lallana would both be in I'm sure if fit, but its what we have, so bring it on. Bloody love the world cup

I've always loved the World Cup, and still get a buzz watching England play. I think it's because of how infrequent it is. I've watched them all since Espana 82. It's always a disappointment but I'll stick my Mexico 86 England shirt on, crack open a beer and watch nonetheless
I'm well impressed, if I had a Mexico 86 shirt, there's no way it would still fit!

Ahh no, it's not original. It's a reissue I bought about 10 years ago, well retro 8)

I got it cos that was quite a special World Cup for me. I had that kit then and was 10 years old and football mad at the time.

I had a souvenir from World Cup '82. A pencil sharpener globe from memory. Probably worth hundreds now.

I was addicted to Mexico 86. Watched every game and collected the plastic cards from the garages to get the teams especially the All Star 11! Think there was a scratch card game with it too?

Love the World Cup - not just the football but the colours the buzz the whole lot. Can't wait for the next Hagi or Roger Miller!

The bird in the petrol station tried to get me to take home a "free" sticker album yesterday. Quite sneaky, they hand the albums out for free and then charge a fortune for the stickers. I did point out to her that I was a tad old to be collecting stickers, but I suspect any parent who goes in with a young child will be fooked.

Weren't the stickers back in 1986 about 20p a pack for 6 stickers? Won't ever be a better World cup than Mexico 86. Anyone remember the epic France v Brazil quarter final? Hardly ever watch Football these days.

I was tempted to get the new World Cup 2018 sticker album. Once again vintage knocks modern into a cocked hat

Great picture. I think 86 was the last World Cup album I did.

Picked up the latest When Saturday Comes - they always do a cracking wall chart.

Never too old, we did it at work for Euro 2016 and it got everyone from entry level to heads of departments joining in the swapsie chat groups

Pfft! They're vintage collectibles thank you

My second emoticon was supposed to be a laughing face, not sure I got the grumpy one instead. Fat fingers I guess. Ahh well.

Bloody hell I forgot about this, how can anybody like this ****. I can forgive him for the handball, we would probably all do that, but the celebration when the penalty is missed?

Yeah I remember that, shocking sportsmanship. That is the one thing you can say about England we will be one of the most sporting teams and it will be the lack of gamesmanship that will take something away from any chance we have of going on a descent run.

The fact that we're simply not good enough, can't string more than 5 passes together and can't win a penalty shoot out may have something to do with it as well.

It reminds me of the Scumacher "challenge" on Battiston. The German keepers complete lack of concern for the poor bastard he's just wiped out always made me sick to the stomach.
