has anyone downloaded windows 10 and is happy with it..
3 hours now and still not complete
just seeing on a couple of sites all the bad reviews...

Robert.

I have it as 8 was such a bag of bolts. It is decidedly meh, it has a truckload of tracking and other information gathering stuff in there that needs to be disabled. It also doesn't work with all software and has a reputation for bricking PCs during the upgrade. Its better than 8 but not sure if its better than 7. If you have nothing to lose its worth a go, but if you have critical software/hardware then it deffo buyer beware.

I upgraded Windows 7 and subsequently had to buy a new hard drive

Apparently it's only recommended for upgrading 8 but they don't tell you that

I did it by mistake, thought the Mrs was going to string me up! Doesn't really bother me but I only really use the laptop for everyday things. My wife however does a lot of work and she hates it.

:? :)

Its ok in itself but if you allow the annoying auto-upgrade you may find windows 10 isn't compatible with some of your hardware forcing you to do a factory reset.

i would avoid it personally, its not worth the hassle.

I get the offer every day on my computer for the last year or more. I still do not know if I should download it :?

I downloaded it last weekend as the free offer runs out at the end of this month. I was running Windows 7.

I haven't used it much but so far it's OK - however, I have been using Windows 10 on a tablet for a while so I've probably got used to it. The new start menu is frustrating, but I was surprised that some of my older software continues to work (though as I said I haven't given it a thorough test yet).

There are pages out there that tell you how you can customise 10 to make it appear more like 7 or 8; however quite a few of these involve downloading third party software.

I use it at work and quite like it. It's basically a cross of 7 and 8, with the good bits of both. I'm glad they saw sense and bought the start menu back. Personally I would advise upgrading to the latest OS, it's not just about features but security too.

I had the same thing popped up every time I logged on, was pissing me off no end as I do not want it, oddly enough I went online to find a way round it & as I did it shut down my pc & automatically downloaded it, talk about a piss take, took ages as well, luckily once it had there was an option to opt out which I went for, then it took quite a while to get rid of it & reinstall my previous OS, but back on good old windows 7 which I am happy with & have no plans on changing.

I upgraded from 7 a few months back. Had a few issues though so a fair few system restores have been needed.

Main issues for me was Edge totally disappearing from my PC so had to resort 'luckily' to IE and the start menu not working.

Apart from those.. I kinda like it.

I have not got a bad word to say about it, once upgraded everything stayed exactly as I left it and my computer starts up twice as quickly now.
I've been running it for a good few months now.
