I think some of the newer guys need to consider off-topic as 'enter at your own risk'. That's why it's not visible until you join. The forum is pretty much self moderating and as Bollux says, racism and homophobic posts are really the only no-no's for obvious reasons.

The way off-topic is set up means that your post is at risk of being changed for comedy value, it happens. You really have to get in with the spirit of it all or stick to the other sections, that's the way I've always taken it.
