Why does Lando start smiling?

I wondered if someone could help me. Why did Kenner appear to change the model for Lando (Bespin) from one that does not smile to one that does? Or is that information lost in the depths of time?

Looking at the excellent Palitoy cardback guide:

It can be seen that non-smiling Lando was only on the 30 back cards, so it's not like sometimes he was made one way, sometimes another.

On a plus note it has helped me track my own childhood Lando to a Palitoy 30 back as he is miserable and not smiling.

Yeah I remember those of us who got Lando early on got the non smiley one. In saying that, he is smiling - the teeth are just brown. Maybe he'd gone a bit mad with a jar of Nutella.

I would say so. Both about as common as each other - complete I'd say around the £12-18 each.
