Just saw this thread. I'm still pretty new (and definitely pretty ignorant) so I don't think it's too late to jump in and say a bit.
To be honest, I found this forum because I was researching my cousin's childhood collection and wanted to not make any mistakes when I started selling everything. Problem is, I'm a huge film lover (spent the last 12 years in Los Angeles working on them), a huge Star Wars fan, a natural collector, and had a ton of this stuff when I was a kid. So I found myself spending more and more time on the forum reading threads and checking out everyone's collections. Now I come here just about every day to read the new posts and see how people are doing with their focuses (focii?).
Sad part is, I still have to sell everything because I need the money but I've already started to squirrel some items away as I find reasons to justify not selling them ("This won't even bring in that much money, I better just keep it.") So in a sense, I suppose my collection is growing somewhat.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I'm planning on getting more involved in the forum but, at this point, I think it's best for me to just do more listening than talking and try to learn a thing or two first.

Anyway, I'm moving to Madrid next week and keen to know if there are any forum members based there or if anyone knows of any vintage shops or collecting community in Spain.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi everyone,
I'm not exactly "new", as I am sure many of you know me from that "other" forum and/or Facebook. Been on forums for 15 years, and have been actively adding to my childhood collection since 1995. Started out as a hot shot rookie who got schooled by the big names in this hobby, and the last few years, as they have become a quieter presence, I have tried to pass on the things I have learned from them to new members. Although I rarely stray from RS due to the time I've been there and amount I've invested in being part of that community, I have become increasingly frustrated with an influx of modern collectors with little regard to our hobby. I've pretty much had enough of the bullshit there, and have been very close to leaving the hobby. Todd recommended I give it a shot here (so blame him for bringing my opinionated ass here!), and I'm going to see if a fresh start can revive some of my enjoyment in a hobby I am very passionate about. I can already see the general anti-repro and anti-AFA vibe, so it looks like the right decision right away.

Ian, welcome. Sounds like RS's loss is going to be our gain. I've been on there a handful of times and from that experience I know where you're coming from.
And as for bringing your "opinionated ass" here? It'll be amongst good company (myself included). I wonder what a collective of opinionated asses is? A Parliament of Asses? A Bench of Asses? Oh no, wait; a Facebook group!

Welcome Ian i told ya this is the place to come.
Best thing about this place is that the owner Edd doesnt make money from this or its members unlike a certain other forum we all know. Thats the real reason why everyone is walking away as most of the mods are yes men to the doughnut who runs it. Said owner is just a slimy, arogant little plonker who has no balls in the real world. And also, Edd doesnt claim rights to your images :lol:
