Welcome aboard Ricky :D

That's bad luck, but always best to look forward, maybe some of your pieces have ended up with collectors and therefore being looked after. Think positive bud, and your in the right place to build a collection. Plenty of SW vintage out there, you only get one family :D

Good luck and welcome :D

Hi folks, long time reader - finally getting round to putting a post on!

I'm one year off 40, from Ayrshire (West coast of Scotland) and like everyone here have been a huge fan of the toys since childhood. I had everything Kenner/Hasbro put out from 95 onwards but I became really disillusioned with the whole thing about 2003/04 with the amount of repacks and multiple lines at once. I sold the whole lot keeping my vintage stuff only.
Then in 2008 found out my brother hadn't kept up his storage unit payments and lost the contents (just like storage wars). This would have been inconsequential to me but for the fact our entire SW collection from our childhood was in it - all went to charity. Loads of complete, well looked after vehicles, all accesssories, loads of sealed Palitoy mini rigs, speeder bikes etc All gone. He didn't tell me till well after the event so I could do nothing about it. Till this day I'm not over it. :(

Anyway we still get on. I've since completed a run of mint/complete loose vintage figures and bought a few Jedi carded ones, which I've had graded at UKG.

Funnily enough the whole ToyToni thing brought me here. I'm a bit wary of buying any vintage MOC's from Ebay now (especially Palitoy) and searching for info I came across the source!

Anyway salutations to all!

Ricky

Flippin hell, this sounds like one of my nightmares I have. Welcome to the forum Ricky. :D

 I know, its not an easy one to get over. The worst bit is whenever there's any SW stuff out my 6 year old always asks "are these the ones you had when you were a wee boy?" The answers never going to be yes.

A good ailment is buying another MOC! :D

Welcome to a great forum chaps

I lived there too for a time and my grandparents were from there.

Do you remember Hopkins then? A toy shop in the main street that was a SW haven back in the day. It was between that and Menzies for figures!

Welcome Leon and Ricky.

Ricky that's a ****ed up situation. I'm sure it sent a shiver up everyone here.

 haha, the stuff of nightmares for any SW fan. I could buy a thousand MIB X-Wings but none have the memories of my old battle damaged one!
I just need to get on with it I suppose. Nobody's died, i haven't lost big money or anything.
There is a certain amount of nostalgia that goes with any interest in SW and that's what keeps tugging at the old heart strings, that's all.

We didn't talk for a while, I was very angry about it. After a year I just had to let it go and we got in touch again. If the place had burned down in a fire I could handle it better, its the thought of some scalper going in and helping himself for 'charity' (or his eBay page more likely) annoys me as much as losing them in the first place.

I would heve been angry as well but life is such. In the cold light of day however much family members annoy you it's not as important as Vintage Star Wars toys :!:
