Good evening all, Newbie member and wanted to say hello to all, I am not a huge collector in fact i sold most of my items quite a while back, Im currently looking for a good AFA graded set of the original 12!
All the best
James
Hi James, new here myself, it's a great site for buying and selling, sound lads to deal with and have great advice. Best of luck with the search, sold my collection a while back as well but have started into moc figures now, Still also picking up loose ones.......need to focus really

Thanks for all the welcomes guys, I Cant believe how much things have changed in the last ten years or so, The info on this board has proved invaluable and I have managed to add 4 AFA 85's to the collection courtesy of a very helpful forum member! I daren't even think about looking into MOC's

I though i'd go for something original...
...Welcome to the forum James.
:)

Took me ages to think of that one!

Posted this on 'Collecting Goals' so thought I should paste it on here too.

I was 12 - 13 years of age during the golden 1977-78 period and was going through that "I'm too cool and old to be playing with these Star Wars toys" stage! So, unfortunately I missed out on the original Kenner toys due to my puberty, newly discovered love of all this female and The Sex Pistols. My younger friends (By 1-2 years) had them by the bucket but the little action figures passed me by during the Kenner UK release in 1978.

2012, 34 years later, 46 years of age and I have decided to collect all the original available Cantina bar bounty hunters (Snaggletooth, Greedo, Hammerhead, Walrus Man and Chewie too) in complete and VGC for a photo shoot I'm preparing.

So my collecting goal is this: I've enjoyed collecting these five figures so much that I have now decided to collect the original 12 complete in VGC . . . . . Now, where will it end????

I work in broadcast film and video mainly as a DOP, camera operator, editor and would love make a film about the passion of Star Wars collectors and collecting. I'm from Wales in the UK and work between here and London.

I live very near the aircraft hanger where the full scale Millennium Falcon was constructed for the Empire Strikes Back.

Welcome to the forum dude :)

Where will it end?

With every spare penny spent on rare and exotic star wars toys!
The path most take is as follows:
A few choice loose figures,
Then every loose figure,
Then onto mocs....
Then preproduction....
Then bankruptcy!

Only kidding! It's a great hobby- if you buy smart you will never loose money. My advice- buy complete figures in excellent condition. If you ever sell up then mint complete always find a home quickly ;)
Also loose weapons are tricky to find and expensive to buy.
Enjoy 8)

Lastly I would advise doing lots of research before taking the plunge. Here is a good start:

Then with regards to weapons there is some excellent guides here:

If in doubt though ask on here- there's plenty of knowledgeable collectors who can steer you in the right direction ;)

Bora Da SiWookie!

Im a fellow welshman as well. I dont live next to an aircraft hanger but i do live next to a mountain.

I let you know if i see anything to help with your collecting-

Are you in the south?

Best of luck mate

I totally agree with e30318is- its starts with a greedo and ends with pre-production ewok plush teddys. Be careful
:p
