my names mike im 38 i used to collect from 95 right up to episode 1 had a pretty impresive collection but stopped
then got married in 01 moved houses three or four times i forget lol
then had two little nippers and my oldest is three this year and i thought i would get him some loose figures bought some off of iain on here then it happened
im hooked again so all my old collection from the loft going through tons of boxes realising i had a lot of stuff i forgot i had (old age again)
i also collect vw cars lol

Had a massive collection 10-14 years ago but unfortunately parted with it at some stage when I was young and foolish. After i joined the 501st I feel like really getting back into collecting again. Im starting on scratch this time around (only have a Millennium Falcon, an AT-AT, X-wing, IG88 and YakFace that were not sold back in the day for some reason.
Came across the forum by pure luck and Im looking forward to spending numerous hours reading up on information here. Seems like everyones out to help each other here

Hello all.
I'm 38, Living in Brighton, UK, Live with my girlfiend Joanne.
I'm re-kindling my passion for vintage Star Wars, and boy, have things changed!
I started collecting as a child in the 70's, my first figure was R2D2 on 12 back.
The bug had well and truly bitten me and I collected with relentless excitement right through until I grew out of toys I think around 84.
I don't remember the last figure I got, but I do remember I had them all up until just before Rancor Keeper came out.
The retro collecting started in the early 90's when I spotted some figs I'd never seen before (last 17) in a flea market.
I decided it would be cool to get the figs I never owned and stop there. No! The fire was re-ignited!
Blue snag, boxed playsets vehicles, and original carded figs soon followed.
I started trading on a small level with an add in the back of Model Mart, and going to all the major toy fairs.
Pre internet days! How different it was then. I remember my mint boxed US Death Star, complete with inner packaging etc, took over a year to track down from the states.
And buying things blind on trust! How very odd!
I got tired of things around 12 or so years ago when in my opinion things seemed to be getting out of control with Lucas's licensing greed, and again in my opinion, seemed to be milking the collectors.
So, here we are now. My collection and left over stock all stored away in boxes, and with a love of travel, and record collecting, I started wondering what that old stuff might be worth now.
As I started having a look online and researching further and further, I felt a feeling I'd felt before. The bug had bitten me again!
But, crikey how things have changed. I'm loving the variant thing. In the 90's this wasn't really known apart from the Luke hair colours, Han heads etc.
It's strange because I'd always had a fascination with production variations that I'd spotted coming through my hands, but couldn't really find anyone else who was bothered with it, and in on the most part prices weren't effected in any way by variants in the 90's.
As for Lili Ledy. Wow! Where's that all come from? Loving it though, and all the foreign variants. I remember getting an absolute mint on card Glasslite R2 for I think no more than about £20. People didn't really like it because of the matt finish dome. As for first shots etc, it seemed like there was only a handful of people outside of Japan that gave a monkey's about them.
I'm loving the Tri-Logo thing as well. In the 90's Tri's were generally seen as an inferior card. For me and others it was often a cheaper way of getting some carded figs you wanted, but couldn't really afford to get on a Kenner.
So, anyway I'm probably waffling on a bit.
I'm loving getting back into things and enduring the absolute head fry that is re-schooling myself and getting up to speed with identification etc.
I've been collecting again since about June and have already bought over 300 figures in my attempt to build up on the variants, and have already got myself some nice bits I'm really enjoying.
I'll be posting some pics in the near future of some of my favourite bits when I get some sort of order together. (nothing you wont have seen before) And I'm afraid I'll probably be needing some help with some identification on a few pieces. I'm sure you guys will be more than up to the job.

Hi all. My names Lee and I live in London.
Please go easy on me, I'm new to this whole forum thing but not to Star Wars!!!!
Just recently my 5 year old has got into Star Wars which has been great. Took him to toys r us to get him some toys and saw all of these new vintage style figures which reminded me of my youth.
To cut a long story short, I've decided to start collecting the original figures that I used to have. Unfortunately, all my old Star Wars toys were given away by my Mum to cousins so it looks like I'll have to start from scratch!
Any advice on places to get these from would be appreciated. I'm after carded figures in pretty good nick. In particular, main characters to start with, Luke, Han, Boba Fett etc.
Looking forward to speaking to you guys.

There are plenty of sales threads on here and if you do find anything elsewhere then there is a wealth of knowledge on the boards that will be able to help you

You'll be able to get a lot of figures on this forum. Just put a note in the "wanted" section and you should get a few hits. Also ebay, tho for a novice, ebay can be a nightmare. Lots of reproductions and fakes out there and often the sellers aren't being honest about what they're selling so like Iain said, if you see anything and you're not sure, just ask here and we'll be able to help.
