I think the forum is getting busier, went through a little lull but really picking up now
with some great new members and some fine collections being put together.

Guys, don't forget to post up your latest acquistions in the dedicated thread.

That's many people's favourite thread to drop in on and see what people have been picking up.

hi folks, I'm new to this forum so please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong place as I'm not used to using forums. My younger brother has been collecting items since the first film and is now thinking of selling them. I've told him to take pictures and list them with condition and any ref numbers. Can someone tell me if he would be better selling them singly, in small lots, or as one big collection? Also, wheres the best place to look for some idea of values? Your comments would be helpful. By the way, my niece really is called Leia!!

To answer your question, it might be best to let the guys here judge by the pictures which figures you should sell apart and which ones in lots.

Welcome.
Pictures is a very good start. People on here could give you help with prices and even make you offers if you wish to sell them on here. Probably best to price them separately for starters. Tho people on here are still likely to want to take a few off you at once.

Ps. there is a "things for sale" thread or a "help with valuation" thread on here depending on how you decide to go..

Hi all,

thought i'd introduce myself as i'm thinking of selling my beloved star wars collection that i've been collecting for approx 11 years now.

I'm 27 and started collecting ever since my brother bought me a carded figure (qui gon) and for some reason I couldn't take him off of the card! Ever since i've bought hundreds of figures (all carded) from all manner of places (ebay, collectormania, memorabilia, toy shops across the country) and they have all been kept in pristine condition.

I've got a wide range of items in my collection from a 20 back Obi Wan (AFA 80-Kenner) to the 400% Kubrick Boba Fett. I don't want to sell them but to be honest i've got that much and such a small house then I want them to go to someone who can display them properly and not have them tucked away in an attic/spare room/living room gathering dust!

One question though if I may, I did talk to a guy at memorabilia last year about selling my collection in bulk or, in other words, he basically he comes round my house and says what he wants and gives me a (decent!) price for them. Is that the route to go or would it be better to sell in little collections on ebay?

Many thanks for any replies and I look forward to hearing from you all!

Nick

Hi Nick, welcome to the forum.
You've come to the right place for advice. There's a few people on here that will be able to help you.
If you're looking to sell something get pics up on the "things for sale" thread, and i'd always recommend separately as finding someone to buy a whole load of figs off you at one is gonna be hard and like you've mentioned likely a dealer and you won't get the best price.
If you're not sure what things are worth, again pics!, in the "valuation requests" thread and people will always help and are always honest.

If you've got modern stuff you might be better off on ebay as it's mainly vintage of interest here. But don't take my word for it... you never know. There is a "modern" thread on here too.

All the best with it.

Pete.
