Who was Yoda referring to "As The Other" in ESB??

Yeah, Leia. At this point we don't know Luke has a sister. I guess a young potential Jedi's flesh and blood/sister is likely to be 'made of the same stuff' i.e. She could be another hope.

Actually by that point it wasn't Leia. It was changed to Leia when the re-writes for ROTJ were complete. Lucas hasn't really said who he initially intentioned.

Yooosa Jokin :D

Leia is the obvious answer...BUT....

Food for thought on Richards point.....

Yoda always commented on Luke not being ready, Anakin was always referred to as the chosen one to restore balance to the force

Was Lucas thinking by Luke standing in front of the emperor that this would be the point where the chosen one fulfilled his destiny, and restored balance, the good of Anakin overcoming the dark side and destroying the emperor at the same time ridding himself of Vader ?

Remember Luke's response to the emperor.
Never...I am a Jedi like my father before me....

I shall now go out and restore balance and get myself a life :?

Agree

But the prophecy of the chosen one was a Jedi legend, that said balance would be restored by the chosen one destroy the Sith

It was an assumption that the chosen one would be a Jedi , however, the fact that Anakin worked with the emperor as Vader and orchestrated the Jedi purge
But came full circle at the point the emperor was killing his son, and destroyed the emperor, thus bringing balance to the force and fulfilling the prophecy.

The Sith destroyed, balance restored and Luke remains to continue the Jedi teachings...job done

I've never read any of the books or comics, but did Luke & Leia have any other brothers or sisters?

And did Luke or Leia have any kids after ROTJ??

No bros or sis.
Luke had 1 son called Ben
Leia 2 sons and a daughter Anakin, Jacen and Jaina

Although most of what you've said is true from the rewritten ROTJ onwards the force can't be in balance if there's no Sith!

Yeah but, no but, yeah but, no but.....

The prophecy indicated that the chosen one in restoring balance would destroy the Sith ....as the Sith WERE the cause of the imbalance

The Jedi were an order, out of which the Sith order came....

"Once we were mighty Jedi of the Republic, brothers in the Force. But the Great Schism between the Dark side and the Light turned Jedi against Jedi. Our ancestors were defeated, driven off, cast out! But we turned our exile into victory, here on the far side of the galaxy. In these unblemished worlds we found the Sith people treated us as Gods! After many centuries some of us have interbred with the Sith while others still bear true Jedi blood. Our Sith Empire is great, rich, and powerful. This is our Golden Age."
―Marka Ragnos, Dark Lord of the Sith [

We are the select few who refuse to be carried by the Force, and who carry it instead. Thirty in a millennium, rather than the tens of thousands fit to be Jedi."
―Darth Plagueis

The teachings of Darth Revan through the Holocron, the rule of two created by Bane

All of the above showed the Jedi were custodians and tenders of the force, the splinter group of dark Jedi practising the dark side interbreeding with the Sith tribe, the emergence of the Sith order,

Thus the imbalance in the force, creating the need for a saviour, and the prophecy of the chosen one.....anakin

That's how I read it, but that's the beauty of the EU there is no right answer, it's how you perceive it and that's why I read EU, and also to get a SW fix

Love it

No but just downloaded it as an e book...so I shall read it, can I be your padawan

Probably have it all wrong, but I enjoy running with it...that's half the fun, keep going and learn by mistakes, might get there ...might not...but ill enjoy the journey

No it's correct for the Sith you're referring to but it has been expanded on a lot with the lost tribe and the FOTJ series.

The Sith were dark force users who existed before the Dark Jedi found them. The Dark ?Jedi assumed control of the Sith and became their Dark Lords.

Well master

The truth is only attained through perception, and one must free your thoughts ( mmmmm...Yoda)

What about Plato and the allegory of the cave

Plato begins that real truth is intellectual truth as opposed to physical truth

I.e creator ( to some ...God) pure in essence and thought, but not a physical being...creates the universe ( physical)
This is the manifestation of the thought universe in the mind of that creator
So the physical things are copies of the original thought of the original concept of the thing.
They are by definition imperfect.

My point there is the force, is the pure, then you have the Sith who can use the force to create what they want, .....Power..... Ultimately this is a bending of the Original concept to create control and power

The difference between the force, the Jedi protecting and tending the force, the Sith using it for their own ends.

This is the story of all good V evil, Dark v light etc

I love reading philosophy, especially Plato

Plato - now I understand your yes and no answers.

It's all relative to ones point of view. Tolkien wrote a fantastic discourse once where he theorised that Melkor (Morgoth) could believe that he fought for the causes of good and that the Vala(r) were actually evil. Two sides of the same coin where the only balance lies in the equality of each otherwise where one does not exist then the winner becomes the thing it fought against.

 ok now I'm even more confused :?
