What to do when a parcel doesnt turn up in the post!

By the way, for future reference when using Royal Mail International Signed for 'Your item has reached destination country' is the last detail you ever get before it is signed for. There is no actual tracking. For proper tracking, you need Airsure which is slightly more expensive.

I thought that whilst Airsure provide tracking they dont provide actual proof of delivery and signature. So you have a choice of Signed for delivery which only tracks to port and then gives confirmation of delivery and then Airsure which is trackable all the way but doesnt get signed for at the end. Have i got this right :?:

Well the parcel turned up finally - its taken just about 4 weeks! Incredible that post can take that long!

But at least this has really made me think about what i would do if something ever went missing and I really need to look at changing how I post expensive items.

These look like good options to me!

Special Delivery in the UK (100g-500g) with insurance up to £500 would cost about £6.30 and Royalmail International Signed for delivery (150g-200g) compensation up £500 costs about £12.00.

fedex would be about £18 i think, and is far superior and usually 3-5 day delivery, always worth getting a quote from them (try parcel2go.com)

Thanks for that Andy. I'm thinking Fedex is definitely the way to go for items over £500. Looks like without signing up to a website the quotes I am getting are pretty vague. Any thoughts on how much it would cost to send Fedex (200g package) to Europe or USA with up to £1000 or £2,500 insurance/comp value?

Just checked a tracking number and thought I'd share what is possibly a world record - I sold something on eBay on Tuesday morning at 8am. Booked FedEx at 9am. They collected at 12pm (lunchtime.) Delivered in CALIFORNIA at 12pm on Thursday! **** Royal Mail :lol:

I'm the same at the moment - 3 ebay lots sent out in the same package via international signed for - tracking number says delivered to theGerman postal service on 13/12 but buyer has opened a dispute saying hes not recieved it yet (dont blame him btw - I would probably do the same) - its a tough one, I've done things my end, its been delivered to Germany etc etc

Not sure mate, but the premium would be quite high, you can get quotes from them or third party insurance for parcels if they are that expensive,

I sent a item to usa that was worth £175 and it cost me £21 with fedex and that was insured too, they got it in 3 days and full tracking, email updates and proof of delivery was provided.
