A couple of you guys have your own webspace.

How much do you pay for web housing and how much is your domain names etc?

A friend is looking to put up a web site and I said I'd research the costs. :D

Hi Boba,

I have Landoslocker hosted on a mates webspace that he lets me use free of charge. I'm not sure what he pays for the space but I'll ask him for you as I think he gets a pretty good deal.

Also check if your mate has his Broadband account with BT as he may be entitled to some free webspace from them if he is on the right package

I used http://www.godaddy.com to buy the domain name and it cost me $18.40 to rent http://www.landoslocker.com for a 2 year term.

I use the webspace (55MB)given to me by my provider (Virgin Media), thats free of charge but you do have to pay for their broadband unfortunately.

a domain name costs anything from Ã'£6 per year, and a decent amount of hosting can cost as little as Ã'£30 a year. my advice would be not to buy from any UK companies, most charge 2-3 times the price that US companies do, mainly because of the exchange rate.

Thanks for the info Edd.

Do you pay for this websites webspace - notice the address is now a sub domain with 6spot bit in it?

webspace is so cheap these days that i just have one huge hosting account with about 10 websites running from it (6spot.com)
