Was Takara Star wars sold in UK?

Hello Folks,

Was Takara sold in UK in the 70/80's? The reason why I ask, I remember buying Vader from a toy shop in Chichester. I had always remember Vader was different to my other figs as he had JAPAN stamped on his leg.

In case you asking, I no longer have him thanks to Mother!

I have discovered later in life that there was a lot of "grey imports" of toys throughout the eighties. Normally not into mainstream shops or channels though. I had friends who scored US exclusive GI Joe and I personally picked up late series Battle Beasts - Both supposedly not available here.
