Hello all,

I am new to the forum and I have some questions if people are willing to help. I have a large collection of figures and vehicles and have been collecting them since I was 8, now I am 26. My parents have finally moved house so I sadly had to take them all down from display and box most of them up but have kept my loose figure cabinet and put it in my flat.

It has sparked my enthusiasm to finish the loose figer collection as I only have a few to get.

I have had a vinyl cape jawa for over 14 years I bought it from an antique dealer who specialised in Star Wars figures. It has 2 letters of authenticity. However looking at all the fake descriptions it says that there are no known Vinyls with small eyes. Well I have done all the checks on the stamp, gun and most importantly the cape and all are authentic but mine has small eyes. I have lots of cloth cape jawas and they have large eyes.

So is this a real vinyl or not?

Kind regards
Jay

Hi Jay,
welcome to the boards :D . Unfortunatly letters of authenticity don't mean a lot if the figure isn't entombed in an acrylic case with matching serial numbers, you checked the leg stamp so i guess its not in a case. That does not mean it can not be real, eye sizes can vary depending on which paint mask is used or how often it is cleaned but a #1 or#4 leg stamp with small eyes is not something you find very often. Without pictures it's going to be very hard to say anything usefull about the authenticity of your jawa.

Fraid the only way we will be able to help is with a picture

Out of interest, who are the LOAs from?

Seeing as the capes are removable its not out of the question that your cape is legit. I went to view a VCJ to buy once, I didn't end up buying it, but it was legit and had small eyes, a single figure from a childhood collection so there was no cape swapping involved. As far as I am concerned eye size is a guide but not the be all an end all.

Like itfciain says we really need pics to give you an unbiased opinion. :D

Hello All,

Thanks for the quick responses

I will post some pictures when my computer starts working again.

Kind Regards

Colour looks good, and the fit looks good to me too...

Its either legit or this Jawa got his new coat from Savile Row

But hey what do I know, I don't even own a VCJ

Great stuff well chuffed was worried about the eyes but hey now there is an anomaly, there's always a few.

Kind regards
Jay

I chatted to one on the phone earlier he said its all about the cape and the stamp on the leg. The eyes are hand painted so they would be very variable.

Cheers

Looks OK to me too - I wouldn't worry too much about the figure itself, these can be swapped over and to be honest there is no real value in the figure without the cape

From your other pics it looks like you have a nice collection there - welcome aboard

Can't chip in on the vc discussion but if you ever need to discuss dt's I'm your man

Looks like a great collection 8)

If you want to be sure about the cape post a close up of the crosshatch pattern. The stamp on the leg your phone expert mentioned is most likely # 1 or #4 in this guide http://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/COO-GUIDE-h21.htm#Jawa your figure looks like it has stamp #7 or #8 so the eye size of this figure is not an anomaly but the combination of this figure with a vinyl cape is. I would love to see a picture of the certificates of authenticity just to see who made them up and what they look like .

Thanks for the pics James, if you look at moc's most of them have the bottom jawa with the "nipples" on the thumb if you look at AFA graded loose it looks like anything goes as long as it's not a no coo figure .

Hello,

The stamp is number 7, I will post some pictures of the letters in the week. This has the crosshatch pattern on the inside of the cape. I am 100% certain this is an orginal Cape and I don't think it would have been taken off one and put on another. Who would do that and I would of thought that it would have ripped as it is a perfect fit.

Cheers
Jay
