Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, I've always been a big fan of star wars and the vintage toy lines.
I like many used to have the figures as a kid but no longer do, it's time to buy back my
childhood. Before I start to collect again I was looking around for a good quality display
case for roughly 150 figures + jabba. I couldn't really find much out there.

So I thought i'd have a go at making one myself, this is still in the design stages at the
minute. I thought it'd be cool to have a case that looked like the vintage figure packaging.

I plan to make this as a simple wood frame box (painted black) with back, glass shelves for the figures,
a slide in background for the figures, a UV perspex panel that slides out from the side behind
the the packaging facade.

Pics: Still a work in progress.
This is my rough design at the moment, i've added some of the figure offer stickers to the
edges that was offered over the years as two white stripes just looked boring. I'm still working
on the gradient for the star wars text and stripes too. I'm also thinking about changing the dimensions
also to make it wider and not so tall.

Hello SpaceMarine, Welcome to SWFUK :D

I think that's a great idea, it will be the best display by far if you can pull it off

Good luck with the project, & please keep us updated.

Nice work. Bram on here had a similar idea and I helped him out. Someone on ebay is already churning out similar ones.

I couldn't see anything on ebay, just did a quick search and found this on google
http://www.figuredisplay.com/ it's very similar to what i'm making, I can do it for
less than $1900 !

Those were the ones. Everyone is using the Kenner logo.......copyright infringement like hell....but it seems to be ok now as compared to a few years ago.

I had a bit of spare time yesterday so I completed a bit more of this prject.

Good luck with the project looks awesome.

Has the potential to be really good 8) most display cabinets whilst looking cool lack vibrancy so this would really stand out and add a dash of colour. Looking forward to its progress :)

Nice looking display and just wondered why you're thinking of using a 1.99 price sticker as when they were fist released they cost 99p (although this may well have varied a bit from town to town)?

Looking forward to seeing the finished piece! :D

I'm currently trying to find a company that will be able to make this display. It is quite big and most local
print shops don't have the equipment. I need someone that can print images bigger than 100cm x 200cm,
that can also laminate the poster to cardstock and does computerised cutting.

At the moment the pics above include the Droids and Ewoks figures, The display is just too big
with these included (Over 7 feet tall) I'm going to trim it down to just ANH, ESB, ROTJ (including
Jabba and the Rebo Band) and POTF.

This is the list of figures I want in my collection, I have included some variations that i'd like. I could make
the display smaller by just making it for a basic set (including last 17)

Great idea, I ran into the same problems that you are also.

The only suggestion I wouldmake would be (if possible) to adjust the height of some of the backdrops to the size of the figures, I am not sure but I think R2D2 would look funny in front of the bigger sized backdrop.

I ran into the same problem with printing and the costs were pretty pricey!

Good luck!!

I've made a little bit more progress with this, I've taken Bramistuta25 advice
and made some of the back drops smaller for the ewoks etc. Also planning
to make the Han Carbonite a double space so I can display the block also.
I've cut the overall size down to 40" x 72" it is still very big.

Nice work. Personally the only thing I would change would be the font used for the names of the characters.
Futura or Avant Garde would be more inkeeping with the original style.
