Thanks for another great show. I was as hypnotised and enthralled as ever.

I particularly enjoyed the Craig Stevens section. SW being just before my time, there was a lot of news to me. I'm looking forward to more of the same with ESB.

I really can't be arsed with FB. With too many posts, it ends up eclipsing everything else. Sigh.

I know FB is the way the world has gone but after to listening to the podcast it seemed to be centered mainly around buying vintage items. That's fine if you're in this game only for the goodies but I have quite a bit of interest in the history of these items as well as a great many other things to do with Star Wars and other vintage toy lines. With forums you get a great overview of all aspects of the Star Wars universe and although it is nice to have special pieces to add to our collections that may be at a better price than ebay (and items that don't come up on there), it's not the be all and end all for me.

I've yet to join FB in any way but don't really feel that I'm missing out on much that I can't get from this forum and others like it. For some of us the information is the biggest reward.

The biggest problem with Facebook is that it will be replaced by the next big thing - look at MySpace.

Forums are around as long someone is interested in keeping them going.

IMO they don't compare, FB is all about the now

Prices on FB are double (or triple) what you would pay here or on Ebay. People on there are basically buying at Market value, then flipping at above market value. Anyone of us could do that. People on many of those groups with more money than sense.

I agree there is more to the hobby than buying...selling and feeling the need to rush to buy just to show off your new finds. I have a FB group that Iain and myself run and there you will find none of this....only banter and occasionally a star wars post.

Just seen Richard Torres has been outed in FB, thought it was odd no-one had called him out before. Assumed he'd turned a new leaf

Another drawback of FB is that shady folk can hide more easily amongst the masses

Bloody hell, not hears the name Richard "Toz" Torres' name in a long time. Had a nasty habit of taking money and delivering when it suited him. Last time I dealt with him was about 2004 I guess. Outed him? Gone from unreliable to a rogue? Will have to look that up and read with interest.

Well with prices being even higher then it really is strange why people are moving that way so much, especially if it is more so about getting a collection up together as quickly as possible.

You may well swing me with your FB group although until I feel the need to setting myself up on FB I'll just keep things simple with the one one place to go for now. I am tempted to go just for the extra banter though

He had a thing for replaced undisclosed replaced MOC nameplates if I recall

Anyone got any other suggestions for the podcast? Anything you particularly like or don't like?
Who do you want to see on it (ok hear on it).
Was Rich a bit to Billy Big Bollocks this time with his cheek to me? He seemed to have swollen some brave/cheeky pills. Do I need to knock him down a peg or 2 or just ignore him like a mild Gordie irritation?

Personally, I'd like to hear more of the likes of Craig's knowledge. It really presses the nostalgia buttons. Would it be possible to include items about the original trilogy era, even if they don't directly relate to collecting? SW on TV, SW in the UK press....that sort of thing. It relates to the time of the vintage collectable so it would be relevant. Sort of.

Like the idea of summary of press coverage, etc.

I really like the oddball section. Really interesting to hear about other bits and pieces out there.

How about a SW Myths and Mysteries, section? So it's more of a concept than an idea as I'm not sure what you could cover. Perhaps things like the details of the falling out between Lucas and Prowse, or digging into why things like the Blue Snag got made. I'm sure we know why the blue snag turned up there has to be other such myths and rumours. Restriction on that may be that a) it's all been covered before or, b) lack of conclusive answers one way or the other.

What about a study/history of each of the manufacturers? Palitoy, Kenner, PBP, Toltoys, etc. I'm sure it's no mystery but I always wonder why Palitoy shut up shop having been king of the hill for so long.

Really enjoy the odd quiz round, however brief. The most professional quiz was in one of the older pod casts I listened to; someone had clearly spent a lot of time putting together an audio collage of speech, music and sound effects from 4 films and then asked a series of questions. That was awesome! Must have taken ages to do, so entirely understand why this sort of thing isn't done more often.

The interview with Gerald Home was absolutely fascinating. Perhaps a "behind the scenes" section featuring a brief interview with one of the many, many trilogy actors?

Will have a think on some other things. Have to do a puzzle with my 3yr old now.

I'm half way through (was working away from home so it made the drive an absolute pleasure - cheers) the latest episode and it's probably my fav so far, if the last hour turns out to be **** I'll just quickly edit this post :lol:

FB - I have joined Todd's and Jamies just because they are part of this forum and enjoy looking in but probably just because I recognise a few of the names that post there - as a rule I really am pretty anti FB.

I'm anti FB because I see how it is having an effect on here and RS, makes me sad if I'm honest. The forum provides such a wealth of info, fantastic sales (at amazing prices) and general banter but it's the sense of community that this forum has that I love the most. I am probably being ignorant and cutting of my nose to spite my face but because I view FB as a threat I can't get past feeling angry towards it. I realise that makes me sound like a right close minded tit.

Couple of things had me mumbling swear words as I listened -

1. Jordan the "poster boy" selling on FB means FB is great.

Actually Jordan is a wanker that bare faced lied to the SW community about Palitoy girl. It was the forums that highlighted this. So for me the original statement couldn't be further from the truth. The fact that FB champions Jordan as their poster boy tells me everything I need to know about FB groups.


2. FB brings lots of new blood into our hobby.

It does but a lot of it is random and casual, I get fed up reading about people buying items that they have no clue about. "hey look what I got, what is it, I can't remember seeing it in the films" - It's a f*ckin mini rig, you don't know because you didn't play with them as a kid, have done zero research on your new "hobby" and will be collecting something else this time next year.

I have seen several groups with rules regarding repro but members quite happily posting, selling and arguing their worth - that kinda **** would be shot down in seconds on here.

Obviously it's not all bad and I have seen lots of examples of genuine community spirit on FB with members looking out for each other but I just can't seem to get into it - and I concede I'm probably not giving it a fair go but I love this place and can't get past viewing it as a threat.

Loved the section on the Millennium Falcon - please please make that a regular feature, realise it means a fair bit of work for you guys but would be magic if you could feature a vintage vehicle or playset every episode.

Covering the blasters was very nice - my wife is especially chuffed she has now featured in a podcast. Loved hearing our Stormie Blaster "circle is complete" story

Loved it so much it inspired me to go digging in the loft to find one of my old primary school jotters. When I got my Han Solo blaster I went to school the next day and wrote a story about it.......

it reads -

"I am going to get a Hans Solo gun with a secret button it makes a noise when you press it."

The crayon picture captures exactly how I felt then and pretty much how I feel whenever I get something now

Here's the same blaster hanging on my wall today - rusty screws because it saw a lot of Hoth action in the winter
