Vectis Auctions 24th & 25th Feb 2016

It's entirely legal to take bids "off the wall" for up to the reserve price. As soon as the reserve price is met the bids must be from genuine bidders. Anything else is shill bidding and illegal.

Wow, well I just tried to put in my internet bids and out of 10, none of them were high enough. I was being pretty generous on a few too. Looks like there are going to be some stupidly priced trilogos going today!

I bid on a couple of fairly bland lots and my maximum value appears to be nowhere near it, only one has stayed and I think that will be blown away. Especially when you add the fees on I am just not seeing the value in some of it

Thinking of bidding on one or two Leia bespin moc's.
I'm under the impression the valuations are low to attract bidders.

when i was looking to sell my stuff with them, they said if i have a reserve price, they will `help` bid it up..
I may be wrong but I`m guessing if you bid 100 quid for example and the only other bid is 40 quid, they will bid it up to 90.
sometimes thats not the case, but it does happen; after all , who would rather have 20% of 40 quid than 20% of 100.

If you're the seller and you won't accept less than £100 for your item, then they'll put an estimate of say £120-£150. The lowest an item can go is the low estimate (£120) minus 20% (think that's the correct percentage, might be 30%). So you'll never get less than the £100 you wanted as a reserve, and it'll go unsold if bidding only gets to say, £80.

In your example, the price will only go up to one bid over the under-bidder bid, so in your case one bid more than the £40, so it'd be £50. They can't manufacture bids up to £90 so that's just wrong. Plenty of people on here have cited examples where they've paid much less than their maximum bid. Much as we'd like to think they are, they're not crooks. You say sometimes it happens how do you know that's the case?

I`ll try and dig out the email i received.. just about to start so will be later..

havent won anything, gotta a bit of time to write..

what you say does ring true.. Vectis have been doing this for a long time.. its hard to accept they can give a card a value and it sells for double..
You just need to look back to see what they have sold a previous version for and they are still estimating it as 1/2 the value..its to bring in the bidders. But if the seller says he wants a minimum price for it, and it doesnt reach it, they can always enter it into the next auction. Maybe i have misunderstood their email, but will try to dig it out..

How long does it take for a winning bid to show up on your vectis account? I bid on a boxed vehicle, saw the bid register and didnt get outbid.

I am also looking at this auction on my birthday. Bad move...

No idea but..........

cheers!

Luckily I have the first 12 palitoy MOC, so passed on that lot that just came up. £3800 for the Luke.

Think someone else must have pressed the button at the same time on the lot I thought I won. Still hasnt shown up.

What you have said here is bringing their entire name into disrepute, and could well invoke legal action against you. They are a professional auction house.

Unless you have concrete evidence, i suggest you stop being a prick and keep your ****ing mouth shut. This is not a funny thing to do.

Well if the buyer has the patience (22 MOCs worth of patience assuming they keep 1) there's a few thousands ££££ worth of profit there if graded.

Bloody hell, Palitoy 12 back prices still alive and well! :D

20s around the same, 30s abit lower than previous auctions?
