Just received this PM over at RS ...

Lafos,
This thread has been a great read, but I feel you may have started WW3 in the process.

Hey,

That was me under my RS name :)

Can I just echo what Grant has said, that this place is different to RS and I don't want to see it go down that road.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on this one,I personally think the owner is nuts to take such rare items off the card but they are HIS items and can do what he wants with them,I don't like what he's done but hey.

If it's just a bit of banter that we're having fine, but I'd hate to see folk stop posting on here because of a bit of name calling/disagreement of opinion.

And I think if you really felt that way you wouldn't be collecting the high grade items that you do ;) Bits of cardboard and plastic indeed LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Josh,

All these items are to me is just bits of plastic and cardboard. Im not saying I dont love them but I dont feel strongly enough about other peoples bits of plastic and cardboard to start slagging them off.
What people choose to do with their own cash, plastic toys etc is their business and good luck to them.
Its not our place to judge others on how they go about their business.

At the end of the day when I dropped that £1700 on those beaters. I still new they were beaters but I still wanted to rip that guys head off over that bits of plastic and cardboard. Theft is an entirely different situation tho than someone who just limelighted a few toys.

Now lets get back to talking sh*t about SW. All this raking over old sh*t is getting us know where.
Its cool to have different opinions but its cool to keep it on a mature level.

Peace to all.

Right on point Lee.

Thanks for the comment ,It's good that there is a little bit of agreement on this topic.

Looks like Robbie Mullan has been drawn into the thick of things over on RS,he's used a naughty reference to what he likes to do to MOC's.

As long as he is not doing that too mine..he is free to do whatever he wants......but he can not win with those people...even if he was right.

To my friends across the pond... : )

Hey guys.. Long time no post over here.. I wish I could keep up with both forums but I have such a hard time..

I just want to throw my hat in the ring with Grant and say the current owner is not a knob jockey.. : )

I must say that it is refreshing to see the opinions over here, over on RS some of the people have a "god-like" status and it quickly becomes religion over there.. Anyway, my only point here is that I really enjoy the posts over here and think it is great/refreshing that people are more laid-back and thoughtful on these forums.

I do have to say that I do not agree with these figures being removed from the cards but knowing all the circumstances from three different angles (dealer/authenticator/buyer) I could never hold the current owner at fault for this travesty.

Hopefully some good will come out of this and the next time a piece like this comes up for sale someone will step up and drop some cash down for the sake of preservation. Now that would be a cool limelight!

Take care!

Chris is mostly right.

But if the two DT MOCs had such historical significance (to which I agree), I wonder that no one has bought them from BT, when they were offered.

If the damages to the blisters were so "non significant" the asking price was IMO reasonable. Also keep in mind, that Tom would have authenticated the items.

Any serious & wealthy collector who´s interested in historical Kenner items, 12 backs or DT Vaders & Bens must have thought about it.

Could it be beacause it had a true Brians Toys price tag on it....?! ie.a tiny bit exaggerated

These days if your looking to buy an AFA 85 DT Kenobi and if your lucky enough to find one they retail for $25000 and for a DT Vader AFA 80 he retails at $20000 so the price these guys were in the PCA last summer wasnt to bad at $7000 each. I think the fact was that they were AFA 60/NG material put alot of collectors off including myself at the time.

Grant.

TBF if your looking to buy AFA DT your probably not THAT worried about the price!
It's not like you will have a lot of choice, the items are that rare and come up for sale so infrequently.

Not unless your superficial ;) rarity means nothing weas...condition is everything nowadays don't you know :)
Unless AFA have told them what is nice and what isn't... it appears some collectors just don't have a clue
Just my opinion

Josh has his points guys, he does like a good ruck though so read past the language ;) (he is dundee after all!)

Anyway, the thing is after all, the damage is done, the AFA guys have had countless threads to read to change their mindset and some thankfully have, others won't and another thread won't do the job either.

Personally collecting is something I see more as enjoying figures the way they are, of course opening beaters to regrading nice MOC for high U grades is completely different, there is no argument from anyone apart from the ones doing it that its tasteless AND destructive.

Grant , Lee and many other AFA collectors have stated it many times that they don't agree with some of the things that are being done but what can you do? Like I said, its the same argument over and over that won't get anywhere.

If people woke up and realised that a U90 or U95 dengar in a plastic box is at the end of the day just another loose dengar and they could go buy any condition MOC dengar to have him in his ORIGINAL box then we would be getting somewhere.

Robbie, I do think there are many other ways to make a living on dealing in SW toys, that's just me.

I can't tell you what to do, nor can I stop you.

Insults aside- everyone has the right to talk about whatever they want on here and also share whatever opinion they have, thats the whole point of a forum. Just don't get too personal ;)

(Todd- I know you and Josh don't get on, but having a pop at him for the sake of it when you actually agree with what he is posting (i.e destroying figures for U grades) is really quite low mate)

Yes.....but that does not mean either of them are the winner...they are about neck and neck..........it is pointless that is why I say lock this thread....six pages on this and none of us owns it.
