Unbelievable price for a Tri-logo DSD!!!

The high grade / good condition Trilogos are going for really good money at the moment for sure

Not really I sold my Straight 85 Trilogo DSD for only slightly less.

I tend to agree. It's slightly on the high side i suppose but when you consider the current price climate and the fact that, for once, we are talking about a genuinely desirable and tricky to find piece. Not to mention the exceptional condition. 12 backs are 10 a penny and look what they sell for.
One sold on here a year or so ago for about 150 and i was pretty miffed as i would have easily paid 350. Call it a valuation section mishap. :? Not sure i'll ever get one now.

I was waiting for the price on these to cool off too as I thought 300 was way out there  makes me wonder what the misscard I have would go for, well looks like I will have to be happy with the resealed one I have as I ain't paying that for one

Well..if this particular seller hadn't sent in so many "beaters" to AFA for the U grade there might be more Trilogo DSD's (and many other figures) to go around

Yes you are looking at a pretty nice ungraded Trilogo DSD that was bought by Robbie and U graded. Apparently the figure was "too tempting" to U grade because of how nice the figure inside was..and yes apparently it was "worth it" because it graded a U90 and was therefore 3 or 4x as valuable as it was while still carded...

As for that AFA 85 DSD: I think it's safe to say that the most anal collectors also have the biggest wallets so..whatever, it is what it is..

Hell I'd be happy with a beater Joe, going to have to be with the prices, yeah that Robbie has a lot to bloody pay for in his next life for his sins in this one, I know he bough a shi load of items from a guy I know, all of it went of for U grading

Jesus christ, that's so upsetting to see. What a tragedy. Has anyone ever said what a ****ing arsehole Robbie is? :?

You guys aren't the only ones that would have loved to have owned that DSD. I was actually one of the under bidders on it (in fact I think I was the guy Robbie outbid to win it) so I always took this one rather personally..

After it sold, I realised he was the winner so I approached him about it just to say nice one on winning it that kind of thing. One of his replies stated it was at AFA "as we speak" but even then I honestly didn't twig that it would be going for a U grade - I actually thought it was being graded carded :(

A little while later the cardback appears in his ebay listings and I just couldn't believe it, it seemed like such a waste, especially in my eyes as I was trying to put together a carded Trilogo set at the time.

I emailed him once again, this time to express my concerns and I even pleaded with him to stop U grading but it was all rather pointless when he knows full well that he can get £300 for a U90 DSD from some U addict. As a result, he will get AFA to open up whatever he wants simply because it's a money maker for him.

Pete- Yes it's been stated multiple times and there have been plenty of arguments but it's never done any good. When I spoke to Robbie I tried to explain our point of view to him but sadly there is no way of actually stopping someone from doing that if they can turn £100 into £300 and are in this hobby to make money.

I had actually forgotten all about this until I saw someone selling the same cardback on RS recently and it brought up all the anger again!

Dealers who U grade are laughing all the way to the bank because not only do they make a killing on every figure that comes back U90 but also increase the prices they can sell carded stuff for because they are slowly reducing the eer decreasing supply of MOC. This results in people paying silly money on a figure like the Trilogo DSD because they simply can't find one elsewhere and cave..oh and who has access to all the high grade carded stuff? That's right..robbie + co.

I've been told a couple of times now that Robbie is out of the ugrading business.

I've heard that too and even though I'd like to believe it..IMO if the temptation was there in the past then it's always going to be there.

That particular DSD was not recently U graded though and that should be made clear. It was graded a couple of years back and at that time Robbie openly admitted he would U grade carded stuff (even figures in good condition) if the chances were good that it would come back U90 so regardless of what's happening now, it still happened :(

It's a shame that nearly every sale of these figures in particular always leave a question of ugrading. I'm aware quite a few needs this figure to complete their **** collections.

It's not even what you'd call a beater card, the whole thing stinks. I keep getting dragged into U grade arguments with people and I'm trying to just ignore those threads now, but when I see crap like the tale you tell here Joe, I know why I do get involved.

Whether Robbie has given up his U grade habit or not people should just vote with their feet and not sell/buy stuff from him. He's done the damage already and I'm not one for forgiving so easily as many on here.

Well thats a thoroughly depressing story Joe, it just reinforces some of the reasons why I'm not enjoying the collecting experience at the moment. In an ideal world no one would buy from him and he'd go out of business. But alas we have a community that sees no issue with what he does/has done.

I do not use this forum. However, I am thankful to members who know me as a person, for pointing me in this direction.

Constructive criticism is fine. Insults are not. It's a long road that has no turn lads.
