UKGraders Questions.

Hi Lee yeah you are spot on now I remember the phone call I did buy them for Andy I remember them now he phoned me saying he was at a football match and couldnt bid so could I bid on them for him and if I won send them with some Action Force bits he was buying off me so I didnt see anything wrong with that, I then posted the Han Bespin and ERG on to him along with some Action Force bits he had bought from me, now at that time Andy was only just getting into Star Wars and from what I have heard since then he caused a bit of a stir with collectors he actually sent about 50 Star Wars carded figures in for grading all at once that he had been buying from you guys? or ebay and yes the 2 above were both in that order he sent but they had been sent from him with an order and it wasnt like I was buying them to grade them,if you get me? so not alot I can really do about that as it was being sent in for grading later, he's had loads of stuff graded and I think he owns quite a collection now although I dont really hear from him these days he did used to call and ask alot of questions and for help on certain stuff but then he stopped all of a sudden kind of dropped of radar in fact I havent heard from him this year so not sure if he's stopped becaus ehe hasnt sent anything in for ages or maybe run out of money because he was spending it like water.
Hope we have cleared it up I do take on board what you mean and how that must have looked but it was totally innocent and nothing more.
Just to reitterate there is NO favouritism by any means when grading weather we know you through collecting or not, there are 4 of us soon to be 5 that decide on the overall outcome of grades sometimes just 3 for the overall outcome of grades they are all chosen fairly and honestly.
We have been going for nearly 4 years and come along way we need you guys to back us all the way thats what this game is all about so we take grading extremely serious.
Hope I have helped clear it up Lee.
Steve

Steve very good if you to come on here and answer questions and clear the air as far as I am concerned. You can see how that looked from my side of the table but very good of you to explain the situation.

BTW if he isn't around at the moment does that mean Palitoy MOC's maybe going for a little less? :D

Yeah maybe
He hasnt sent anything in for ages not sure about you lot on here but I got the feeling that when he started going crazy for Star Wars stuff he would be fed up quick and soon stop collecting like a faze or something, maybe he has stopped lol.

was that my old Han Bespin Lee? I'd be interested to know what it went for on the bay

Hey Andy I can't remember pal, I know I purchased my 41 bk from you but can't recall about the 45 a. If you click the link above you will see what it fetched, a lowly 100 notes.

sorry Lee - I didn't read the thread properly and just saw the photo of the 41 back - glad you've still got him, but £100 was a bit low for the 45. I'd have bought it for that :D

Just dropped on Monday 9th May.
Catch you later
I will check again end of play today then back next Monday guys
:D

Hi Steve, Just been on the UKG site to check out prices etc for a few things i have.

I see the Archive is still not working properly as of yet....It also says "Archive currently being restructured during March/April 2011 for our brand new 2011 archive!"
As its May now you might want to update that to let people know that you're on with it

It could put people off sending in their stuff if they think the site is not being kept up to date

Hi mate just dropping on yeah we are on it , what we want is the archive to run smoothly and just got some teething issues with all the extra catergories runing correctly, but the Star Wars one is working fine images are being updated daily and we have info on up to 1958 as we thought getting info on more important than the images at the minute
Were getting there with it though theres even some more cats to add now all good!.
:D

Hi mate forum members £12 ea if you want to send any quote your username and email me through ukgraders mate

Hi Steve, Are you guys able to knock up any safety rail cases like AFA do for MOCS? The ones with the extra acrylic that protects the bubble?

I spoke to AFA and they can do one for me and might even do it as a custom so I could open the case and not have to have it graded, wondered if you might be able to offer something similar, if you aren't sure what I mean check these threads :

Hi mate
Yeah can do that for graded there would be more cost in for the brackets ect but graded is easy.
As for a case to ope this is also possible in fact I pretty much know how we could od it with a slide feature to get in and out for you?, If you want I will make a slide fature one and drop you some pics PM me your email be next week when I have some time but I think we can do that for you no probs :0)

Sounds pretty cool Steve, I would like to see how they look compared to AFA cases, would this be the first one you have been asked to make?

It might be cool if you did make one up to post pictures here perhaps so others could see how they look?

Looking forward to seeing what you can come up with :)

Hi Steve

Going back to your reply to Ed - the £12.00 is for each figure ? and this includeds the case ?

Cheers
Iain

Hi mate yeah I will make one up and post some pics in the next few weeks :0)
Yeah £12 covers everything just postage to go on top when we send them back to you :D

Do you have certain tiers for different items? I mean based on value like AFA? If I want to send in my $30 klaatu trilogo MOC will it cost the same to grade as a $600 Ledy for example or will the Ledy be more?

I never liked that about AFA - I think all items should be graded for the same price if the item gets the same treatment and inspection overall.

As far as I understand it, Tom Derby was at AFA offering his services to authenticate items that were not so common and had to be researched and compared to other known originals, that service was of course at cost, however items like Ledy carded figures / Meccano cards and whatever other toy that isn't very common and might be worth a lot of money don't get sent for authentication - they are cased and graded (as far as i know) the same as they grade a Kenner Weequay.

What they do make you do is, estimate or accurately declare its market value in order to work out how much the grading costs, so its going to cost you more to grade a $600 item over a $50 one. I think there ARE a few loopholes and you can wing most items on the kind of 200$ item tier without them saying much but I have heard they can and will send items back or hold them until you correct the value according to their information.

I always felt that was totally wrong, they often state that each and every item is graded with the exact same strictness and time so that begs the question - why charge more?

It just seems that they want to get more back from the richer collectors for the same service they offer people sending in cheaper figures to grade and it never sat right with me.

I think if the item doesn't require a considerable amount of research in order to grade it (like prototypes/very rare figures low in number) then it should be the same price across the board.
