UKG vs AFA

Hi all.. I dont know if there is already a post on this subject but I was wondering what everyone thought between the AFA and the UKG?

If people can reply with their Pro's and Con's of both that would be great

To put more value on your piece AFA. But i do not have a bad word to say about UKG. I have a few about AFA

UKG - British so cheaper, and quality is fine

but their expertise isn't as good as AFA

AFA- expensive and make mistakes too :roll:

Your best bet is neither

Your right there spoons wish i never went down the graded route

AFA for resale value, expertise.

UKG for price and to support the UK economy...Steve is a top guy, cases are top quality

AFA very expensive, time consuming.

UKG small knowlege base, not worldwide recognition (yet)

because AFA are trusted and have years of work behind them

In a few years time UKG could be well respected too, so if you go with them it could be an investment

But IMO it seems a waste to pay someone to tell you that you have a mint figure

There are not many people if not any from america that sent to UKG. AFA just really pissed me off when they refused a playset i sent them for grading

Excellent feedback guys..I would like to get my whole collection graded..at the moment that consists of about 13 figures lol but I will collect the lot. As a couple of you have said a waste of time and what not, But if it adds value to your collection then surely its a good thing because you have that peace of mind on an investment..

Whats the score with value? how often does value go up? im assuming it drops slightly when your in a recession lol but I have a price guide on all star wars figures that was produced in 2005. now the valuation of those figures in 2005 are so much.. now were in 2009 can any percentage of value be added to those values of 2005?

common stuff has dropped loads recently, and its only AFA 85 or up that holds its value

it's a good time to buy

sorry ron i meant the book was put on the market in 2005 but it covers all figures and cards and playsets and vehicles from 1978 to modern day

Book is out off date. The only true way to find a value is watching ebay

How can you tell the difference between a POTF2 and POTF1 figure then? or is it just POTF2?

I dont know it is only vintage i collect
