UKG vs AFA

POTF 1 (if you wanna call it that) comes with a coin on the card. POTF2 does not.
Also POTF2 cards are green or red/orange, where as the old ones are the more traditional size and shape with the black background and the non drug enhanced figures.

The are both just called POTF. Collectors tend to call them POTF1 and POTF2 TO identify the difference.

There is the vintage POTF Figures that look like this

Then in the 90's the modern POTF line was released all the cardbacks look like this

How can you tell the difference between a POTF2 and POTF1 figure then? or is it just POTF2?

if its loose figures just look at the date on the leg, although not all the potf1 figd have them

Great blokes at UKG.. it cost me 34 pounds with postage and took nearly 4 weeks to get figures back

using afa and premier tier with postage ..cost me 40 quid and got back before 4 weeks.. therefore UKG need to up the service as I like my figures back sooner than later as after all for that extra 6 quid it does bump the price up a good percentage more..

as for the cases the cases are a bit easier to mark on the UKG ones and the afa cases are a bit heavier but they both look great however the UKG wins overall on cases as the inside of the case allows no room for movement to the side at all therefore no edge wear can be made, unlike the afa ones where theres enough room for the card to slide everytime you pick it up which eventually leads to a bit of rubbing which is bad

also with afa there grading sometimes leaves a lot to be desired one afa 85 looks crap like a 75 and another looks good enough to be a 90

I do like Steve though and hes very friendly and I will be using them again when I get my next high quality figure to be graded.. as I say the only problem is the turnaround does need to be slightly faster

Hi lee..thanks for the in depth reply..very informative..A lot of people mention how Steve is such a nice fella and I gotta admit..i spoke to him and he seems really cool..

sounds good..well i got a potf2 carded vader here in mint condition maybe hes worth a few quid ..hes got a gold holographic sticker

99.9% OF POTF2 carded figures are nearly worthless and dont have any finacial value like vintage figures do.

Our local pound shop was selling POTF2 carded figures only last summer they even put them on 2 for a pound to shift the remaining stock.

I've found that if you take them off the card you can get £2 each for them :)

Your right there spoons loose examples sell for a pound more than carded ive seen it happen on ebay.

Maybe its because loose examples are rare due to the amount of people that horded carded examples in the 90's?

Doubtful, does he have a short saber in a long tray? I think they are the only "rare" ones

Something like that didn't the POTF2 carded variants have there day a few years back and now command little more than the regular POTF2 carded figures?

I only found out that the POTF2 card had some rarer varients whilst looking for boba fetts, the boba fetts with one circle on hand, half circles, no skull on shoulder, and no emblem on chest range from £100 - £1000

Its pretty ridiculous to be honest, but it shows that they will become more collectible, ive seen others going for £40 but i dont have a clue why they were so dear.

My nephews love the potf2 figures, i get him them for his birthday and he loves them.

might also be because postage is that much cheaper

I got a load for 25p each off RS a while back - my kids love them

I didn't think of the posatge savings when sending them loose

It makes a big difference to buyers, postage is more than the figure when they're still on their cards

I had a great time ripping a load of EP1 figs off their cards to sell - it was like Christmas :D

I got a box full of POTF2 just sat there in the attic ( I couldn't resist the 2 for a pound offer in the pound shop last summer) they are all carded and mint but as they as worth nothing buy the time you put them on ebay and have to pay the ebay/ paypal and postage fee's you'd are lucy to break even. I listed one once with 99p start its sold for £1.21 so it ended up costing me money lol I think i might just donate them to kids when i get the chance sometime.

Its not that ridiculous mate, vintage variant collectors pay good money for paint or plastic degradation, now THATS ridiculous!
