UKG providing an authentication service - Opinions

It really isnt doing them any favours is it, no consistency and difference of opinion, if i get anything else graded i may ask for the star rating to be removed

I asked them if they would do that in a thread ages ago but they wont grade the item without the rarity rating.

They just offer a casing option instead.

I'd be sceptical of their overall level/depth of knowledge when it comes to Authenticating. TBH I wouldn't pay much attention to a UKG COA, but then I buy mostly AFA graded anyway.

I dont think using a Revenge of the Sith image on the C.O.A for vintage Starwars items was the smartest move either.

I wouldn't consider them for authentication full stop or grading either (at least until the rarity rating is removed).

Has anybody sent a truly rare MOC in for grading? I'm talking 5 or less known examples just to see what rarity star it would get?

I sent in my palitoy 12 back stormtrooper and r2-d2 both received a rarity of 3 stars. I just dont like the rarity rating

I've sent a few bits in the past but won't use them again.
I sent an ESB 21 back greedo rated rarity 2 stars,OK it may be only 2 stars, but they are surely less common than a ESB 48bk 3PO Rem Limbs, which aslo got a rating of 2 stars. In fact I sent 5 MOC for grading and they all came back rarity 2 stars.
Also 2 grading stickers were incorrect, one stating a SW 21 back when it was a SW 20 back.Suppose this could happen to anyone but I sent these when they were first starting out and you would think a little extra effort to try and get some repeat custom.

Lets start up the SWF grading trade.

create specialist areas where the figures are sent to a specific group of people...lol

to be honest it needs more of a community of staff who have variations of knowledge, if the UK were to have a grading company to compete with AFA it needs to be on a much larger scale i think.

i bet we could create a good company out of the members on here. ;)

I doubt it bud. Id hate to be any part of trying to grade burgundy squids and vinyl jawas. It would be a potential nightmare.

Grant.
