Whats going on with AFA?? possible WARNING!!

Strange really ,I have used UKG a fair bit recently (due to the fact that AFA are **** and their customer service is non existent),all emails have been answered promptly and I have found the whole service very good, you can contact them directly and actually speak to someone that actually can answer queries.you can also drop off and pick up .

AFA and UKG have ruined this hobby turning a relatively affordable pastime into big business, I'm fed up of trawling through ebay searches looking at AFA80 UKG90 GOLD etc….and I can't believe how many folk on here use their services.

Like you said Ian, it's Tom's full time job and a very time consuming one, especially to establish so many connections. It's not something you can really do part time, you've got to be committed to it. I think a lot of the AFA hate spills over on to CIB and it's really underserved. The guy is dedicated and professional and above all honest and trustworthy.

It's also a pretty stressful job, especially if you care about what you do and don't look at it as an hourly grind for a paycheque. Many moons ago I was offered a position as a grader with a certification company, and I refused it. Partly related to having a full-time job, but mostly because I didn't want something I enjoy as a hobby to turn into a job. I don't think people realize how different it is when you have the option to go and do something at your leisure, and when you are demanded to it because it's your job. The person who offered the job to me many years later confided that he left the company because he was getting ulcers and started developing sleeping problems. It's natural than when you monetize something such as a subjective opinion, you will have customers who feel an inflated sense of entitlement and will nitpick on every little thing you say about their item. Even when you're bang on with your asssessment, you will always run into someone that disagrees or feels they know better. Even when the customer is completely unqualified to lodge the complaint, it's the false entitlement that they paid you to provide a service and were compensated to meet their expectation, even if the item doesn't warrant the grade they were expecting.

I don't need to pay someone to tell me an item is in good condition, or that it is genuine. If others feel the need to pay a massive premium for that service then i pity them and their money.

Website is down again. Totally unprofessional to have a business with a website that is never working. Surely it can't be that difficult to have a working website.

Action figure authority.... More like Out of action figure authority

The AFA website is up and down like a bride's nightie at the moment

Whoever manages their website is stealing a living! Objectively, it's hilarious. Like the internet hasn't evolved in the last 12 years.

My last experience with them was submitting 2 loose figures and it took almost 5 months for them to turn them around, I'm not kidding. Basically had to get nasty with them to pull their finger out do what I'd paid for. Never known a business like them; and still they are inundated with submissions.
