I'm not a petrol head, but occasionally you see something of beauty, that's awesome, good luck with the sale :D

Thanks. I have had a few years and made the front cover of a classic car magazine once. Thats when i took this picture in front of the ultimate spitfire!

Taffius, I think you must have a window to my soul. This was my dream car as a young teenager. I finally managed to pick up a 1300 (It may have been a Mk. IV, I can't be sure now) at a sale in Buxton in around 2000. It was Sapphire Blue with cream and blue vinyl seats (blue piping, of course) and had been restored to within an inch of its life. It was beautiful. I couldn't believe it when bidding stopped at £1,100. With no reserve. I didn't have the money spare, I just went for it. In the end, with commission I won it for £2,000 less a pint in change.

At the time I was driving a 1972 MGBGT. I put them both up for sale hoping the MG would go first. Not one call about the MG and about 200 about the Spitfire which had been priced at a very competitive £2,700. The first chap that turned up bought it at the ask price. I was gutted even if I was £700 richer at a time when I was earning £40 a week running my own (doomed) dot com start-up.

Always wanted another, although being 6'7" I have to be a little realistic about what I can fit it and in one of these I need to be looking over the top of the windscreen. Seriously.

That said, that is stunning. And if you want to swap for a load of vintage SW do let me know :D

Thanks scruffylookingnh. I dont want to part really however needs must. Wife would kill me if i bought sw stuff with the money! Great to see your very nostalgic over this. My intent was never to have a spitfire, but a mk1 escort however, like sw, certain items have rocketed these days!

Cheers again, Taff

Surely the only way you're ever going to realistically get about in a car like this is to buy two, strap one to each foot, and use them like roller skates!

I am only small so fit well.

Back on sale - being fixed very soon. :D

So I had a misfire. Fixed that (spark plug - easy). While playing with leads and plugs seen coolant dripping from water pump. ****....new pump needed.

Removed radiator and fan. Starting to undo bolts holding pump to studs in block. I have only gone and sheared one off! Bloody nightmare....

Feel your pain, mate. The studs on these blocks were a sod. Sheared manifold studs off enough times. One small job leads to another and another and then a sod of a job! Hey, it's all part of the joys of owning a classic, right? :D

had one for a few years 1500 with overdrive loved it bright orange ebay for about 1200 would love to get another at some point but im no mechanic and would cost me a fortune in. fees just to keep it on the road

Sorry Scruffy, but I have sold it tonight. Now where is that sales page and VCJ.

Can I delete this now as its not SW or does it archived?
