Wow, if real that is one hell of a deal. How in the world did I miss that one?? I scan for jawas on a daily basis. I would have offered the seller a lot more scratch.

It is definitely one of the hardest jawas to find. I would rate it in the top five behind the Clipper 12 Back, Meccano 12 Back and Ledy.

What are your top five rare jawas out of interest?

Mr Smith

Tall Toys ???
Meccano Isn't the Jawa one of the more common meccanos?
Ledy
Clipper
Palitoy or Kenner. Equal?

Thank you,

Grant.

Ok, but that doesn't tell me much. what backs are we talking here?

My personal top five for MOC jawas.

Toltoys ESB VC Jawa
Meccano 12 Back
Clipper 12 Back
Lily Ledy 50 Back
Trilogo

If honorable mentions are allowed, then Toltoys 20 Back and SW 21 Back..

Interesting. In what kind of known numbers are we talking about for each of those do you reckon?

To be honest I don't think a Palitoy 12 back would even get into the top 10 of Jawa rarities (unless we're talking VC  ) as they are by palitoy 12 back standards very common.

I'm also not convinced a trilogo would be in the top 5 either

Mr Smith.

I believe that a Meccano VC Jaws is yet to surface but still might be out there so this was the Meccano I was referring to.

The TallToys example would have to the ESB example with the Vinyl cape.

The Palitoy example would have to be the VC Jawa

I myself have never seen a Clipper Jawa,

I have only seen the the standard Kenner Cloth and VC Jawas and the Palitoy Cloth Jawas. Tri Logo Cloth Jawas and I think there was once a Ledy jawa with the removable hood MOC on Ebay a few years back but It was only an AFA 70 if I remember correctly. I didnt know much about Ledys so I was wondering why an afa 70 was up near £2000.

Im not the best at categorizing these in terms of rarity but I do know that most of them cost a small fortune. :D

Thank you.

Grant.

ok

But you can't really list something as being rare if it's not even known to exist, so technically that rules out the VC's that have not been confirmed.

It's trickt with the Jawa as you have both the cloth cape and VC to consider.

What if we just went on Cloth cape rarity?

Now thats an easier question I suppose to try and answer.

Could it be

Ledy
Talltoys
Clipper
Tri Logo
Palitoy
Meccano
Kenner

Again I have never seen a clipper example so im guessing on that one.

The more I think about this, I want to change the top five into a top ten. Also, I will add some "known" numbers to the mix.

1. Toltoys ESB VC Jawa (three confirmed MOC)
2. ESB PBP 41 Back (< 5 I think)
3. Meccano 12 Back (< 10 maybe)
4. Clipper 12 Back (< 10 maybe)
5. Canadian ESB 21 Back (very low numbers)
6. Toltoys 20 Back ( < 15 maybe)
7. Palitoy 45 (ESB) Back (seen more cardbacks than MOC, but the numbers should be low)
8. SW 21 Back (< 10 MOC)
9. Lily Ledy 50 Back (20 - 25 maybe)
10. Trilogo (30+ maybe)

Of course, this is my personal list..

Hey

Which ESB 45 back is that? There's the 45a with the logo (I only know of one carded) and the 45b without (only seen a resealed and a cardback)

you might want to add the palitoy 41 back (only ever seen one)

and maybe even a 30 back There is a cardback locked a way in a top collection

With the exception of the tri-logo are all the others 12 backs?

Mr Smith,

I couldnt tell you about specific card backs but I can tell you that the ESB Talltoys VC Jawa is my absolute favorite carded VC Jawa.

I forgot about differentiating between the 45a or 45b. I thought there were two 45a's carded, but I can be wrong of course. I did not know a 30 back existed..

There might be two or even more, but in all my palitoy collecting years I have only ever seen one. Same for the 41 back Jawa.

Can you remember wher you saw the 45a?

Except for yours, I think a German or Australian collector has the other. During the "after hours" sale at CIII, I talked to a collector about Palitoy. He mentioned having a number of ESB 45 Backs MOC, including two jawas. I do not remember if the versions were "a" or "b", but he seemed to be a HUGE collector..

I'd love to know where there's a 45b, need one for my 45b collection!

You ever seen/heard of, another 41 back?

Unfortunately not, I have only seen or heard of one. I am starting to wonder if Palitoy jawas need a separate top five list. So far, we have:

12 Back: Uncommon at best
30 Back: One cardback known
41 Back: One MOC and one cardback??
45a (ESB): One/Two MOC's and a few cardbacks
45b (ESB): One or two cardbacks.
45c (ROTJ): Uncommon
70 Back: Very hard to find

Below is a list of Palitoy's from a former Jawa collector (Martin). I cannot remember if all of these were truly MOC, but wanted to list them regardless.

Palitoy SW 12 back b
Palitoy ESB 41 back
Palitoy ESB 45 back with Offer Flash
Palitoy ESB 45 with printed Dengar offer
Palitoy ESB 45 with sticker Nien Nunb offer
Palitoy ROTJ 45 back with printed Nien Nunb offer

Well in terms of palitoy jawas, this is the order I'd place them (and this is just cloth cape)

30 back No MOC confirmed. 1 rumoured ( but reliable source) cardack
45b No MOC confirmed. Some cardbacks
41 1 confirmed MOC,
45a 1-2 confirmed MOC
tri-logo exists in reasonable numbers...maybe 15 or more?
45c reasonably common
12 back one of the more common palitoy 12 backs

So in reality, like I think I said earlier, I don't the tri-logo Jawa is in the top five Jawas, or even just the top 5 cloth cape ones if some of those other country released ones exist in very few numbers.

It makes it into the palitoy list, but would be relagated to number 6 should a VC 12 back turn up confirmed.
