Hi guys,
Firstly introductions, I'm a blow-in from Joe's Trilogo community board. I have been enjoying the SWFUK board for quite a while now, without actively posting (apart from purchasing from the board's For Sale section), so I'm now about to pop my cherry  with a general question for the cardback collecting community.

Does anyone else have a Trilogo (or any other) cardback with a small silver star printed on the rear price panel (see photo below)? :?

I have shared this photo (& another) with Joe (Trilogo) but he is @ a loss as well.

Closer inspection confirms that the silver star is not a sticker applied after printing, nor is it a transfer applied after printing (the edges of the star are too well defined & the silver colour is uniform throughout - this degree of detail may not be apparent from the attached photo, but from looking @ the card in the flesh, this is quite clear).

So is this an oddity or are there other examples, in your collections. If there are I would appreciate being able to see a photo as well, if you have one.

The Trilogo cardback is a basic Bib Fortuna character normal 70B card type. :)

Never seen that before and its not on any of my Trilogos. It does look like those old star stickers you could get when you were a kid though, have you looked at it under magnification as it might be an ink stamp. Who applied it I dunno.

Thanks Guys for the feedback. :D

I have attached below a magnified photo, in an attempt to provide more clarity.

Yes it does remind me of an old school star sticker, but as you can see there are no raised edges so you can't physically lift it off, this is printed or maybe stamped onto the card.

Regarding a children's ink stamp, hopefully the magnified version shows the well defined shape & uniformed colouring of the star - something you don't normally see with a children's ink stamp.

I quite like Poncho's suggestion of an inventory stamp - maybe from a shop or collector, that being the case, then there should be others out there  Time gentlemen to check the rear of your cardbacks, on the off chance. I think my Trilogo Bib Fortuna has a store price sticker on the front, I must check when I get home.

Checked mine nadda..... I do remember having a tri cardback with a silver star on.......... I did sell s joblot of cardbacks on ebay about 3 years ago must if been in that lot. :(

I've never seen one on any of mine before. Almost certainly a home applied stamp, or as mentioned some independent shop.

Hi Guys.

Finally got a chance to look @ the front of the card for a shop sticker, & as I thought yes there is one. :)

The Shop price sticker says Playmates :!: (there's a thought imagine if Hugh Hefner had run an old toy shop, what vintage action figures characters would he have stocked - Jabba the slut, Darth Laid-her, Hand Solo  .... better stop I'm going off topic)

Anyways the Playmates (in red text) also has a price of .59p ea (in black text), so it must have been a small UK shop back in the day. Had a quick search but the only detail coming up is on Playmates the USA toy producer :|

Is Mr Palitoy still the largest collector of cardbacks :?: I might have to PM him, & politely ask if he has ever seen a rear silver star, pass through his collection.
