Toy Toni Question...

Think you get 180 days now to open a dispute (if seller won't play ball), which is a bit crazy but helps you in this case :D

Seller will take it back, not that there is a clear acceptance that it's a Toy Toni. Despite what I said the reply was "it's an 03 bubble so not a TT". But of course that is proven to not be the case

I was thinking it through today, I paid £150 for the MoC before I knew it was TT. I figure, even as a TT it's got to be worth something. Loose mint figure £20, loose mint card back ? £25. Acrylic case £10 - total £55

So maybe TT cost me a century....

I think you'd be surprised, people are still paying pretty strong money for them, and let's face it in today's market a genuine ESB Palitoy/GM MOC with a main character like Ben would be worth well over £150. I'm not condoning what happened, but I don't think they are or ever will be worthless.

Hi chaps,

I've been out of the collecting scene for a few years and mostly missed the whole Toni scandal. I remember very well his adverts in Model and Collectors Mart and probably had a few MOCs off him years ago. I remember thinking it was odd even then that he seemed to have virtually the same list of figures month after month.

I recently spent a few days reading through all 200+ pages of the thread where the whole thing came to light. One thing I didn't see in there was, what happened to Toni in the end? It seems that there was some doubt that the allegations were true at first but now, as far as I can see, it is universally accepted that Toni really did have the cards sealed.

Was there a point when he suddenly disappeared? Did he just quietly drop off the radar? Is he still actively selling anywhere?

Cheers JS

He was never really on the radar, I was buying from him since the early 00s and he was always notoriously difficult to get hold of and evasive. He is still around now selling on eBay, his stall in Brighton and his website (although it hasn't been updated for a year or so):

http://www.toytoni.com

I think the fact he has stopped selling those particular items speaks volumes about his guilt, but it hasn't put him off selling his vast hoard of legit trilogo and Kenner MOCs.

He went quiet for a while, but still sells on ebay under 'marsking' - but his supply of case fresh cards seems to have dried up, funnily.

As Edd and Max have said, Toni is still very much active.

Either on eBay, or in his cabinet in Snoopers Paradise here in Brighton. He still pulls out gem cards from time to time.. albeit Kenner and Trilogo.
Most cards lately have been Bespin Leia, IG-88, Power Droids and Tri A-Wing pilots. He's never been fully open as to his full stock, as he drip feeds the market.

His cabinet does have a few nice cards in, but also a lot of cracked carded stuff too now and loose figures... (Think he is now being outshone by our resident Tim Drummond (Tickion) who has an even bigger cabinet in Snoopers.)

Now and again, the trilogo pop up r2 makes an appearance too. He may possibly have Meccano Jawas as he had stacks of those back in the day.

Palitoy / GM stuff has fully gone since he got caught out. Does he still have unused cardbacks ?? no-one knows and he never directly answers any questions. Nothing ever come of a lynch-mob / court case against him either.. Even with Jason doing his media tart stuff on Rogue Traders, nothing come of it.

:D ironed at home.....

Like to Iron him out given the trouble he caused.

Did he buy figures along with the bubble and card backs ? I think the Fake Britian thing sort of suggested he was buying figures on eBay and repackaging them rather than used Palitoy stocks

He only lives a few roads from me, so if you're ever in Brighton I can show you his house..lol.

He only had cards and bubbles. He was buying mint figures from his 'other' eBay account, then selling the completed items on his 'Marsking' account.

Well that certainly does end my affection for the General Mills Obi Wan I have. Probably even a repro saber and cape inside that bubble !

The graded loose figures he still sells are no doubt left overs and intended for carding

He had some factory stock figures that came with the unused cards, but not nearly enough and they soon ran out.
